Should have given town LESS information if anything

I think telling mafia a few roles, if not all, that didn't end up getting picked would be a decent idea for the next game. Would give them more flexibility in claiming and town claimers wouldn't instantly become semi-confirmed. Yes, mafia could actually pick a medic or DT, but there are so many absolutely ridiculous town roles that they can't actually win if they don't pick actually useful ones.

Mafia team died to the usual bane of mafia teams, inactivity. They had killer roles but sadly no people to let them be used long enough. Sad that viscera had no time to talk himself out from the accusations and he certainly could based on the foreword post of his in this thread that his activity will be low. Inventor was creative, but nobody beats a list check.

Anyway, I hope it was not really rocky in terms of hosting while bc was away.

So i had a best plan 2013. Too bad most of the people were like "i don't give a shit about any plans and won't contribute anything about any plan ever". That's when i stopped caring about plans..

Yeah, what the fuck was that?

SO many people shat on plans, and almost all of them were town, when every plan discussed would have helped town win the game.

Just because it's "setup talk" does not make it worthless, especially in this game.

Definitely not. Mafia already got way more information than town on how some roles worked and how interactions worked. I guess we could've asked more questions. Giving them freely claimable roles early is a bad thing as it's a huge boon

Syllo is working from the position that the current TL metagame is town-favoured; you need to give town less pieces of the puzzle, rather than more.

I tend to agree, personally.

I don't think that the metagame is town-favored in the slightest. I just think that in general, town works harder to try and win the game than scum does. Look what happened when Artanis tried to get unlynched, people started buying what he was saying. If people would put forth more effort in trying to win as scum and trying to be active, then I don't think it would be town-favored at all.

Town isn't supposed to solve the game based on what roles people claim, in particular in a format where everyone is potentially blue. It's perfectly fine if they can't trust role claims at all until they flip. That is, they can't trust claims without analyzing their play. The format makes fake claiming very unappealing and difficult for mafia, because they have absolutely no idea who tried to pick what and when. This has been a problem in every single PYP and it's only getting worse with more strong roles being added as that forces mafia to go for roles that they can actually use.

I liked what was done with the characters though. With a bit more creative claim BM could have gained a lot of credibility with his justice vig pick.

Yeah, BM's claim was weak. If he'd had a strong explanation for his claim losing its drawback for some reason, he could have been "confirmed town" for a while.

Part of my reasoning for picking NRA was I figured it was a role that VE would strongly consider from either side and that if he took it then it would be highly indicative of his alignment dependent on how he acted. I think a more interesting method for PYP would be to have a list of all potentially available roles and once the draft order is set then figure offer people pods to draft from which are kept secret.

I thought about a PYP game like that. Sort of like a "Single Draft" (ala dota). But I just couldn't figure out the logistics of how it could possibly work in a fun-to-play way.

AFAIK most of the town reads basically just boiled down to meta reads. I was actively working to try to figure the game out and putting in a lot of effort, even though I was wrong quite often. Being wrong != being scum.

Also, FWIW, if I was scum, I was really hurting my chances to win by calling everyone town all the time

Keirathi's case against me on D1 was really well thought out (despite him being wrong on it) and looked like made in obv-townish mindset. His check + reasons and reaction to to MZ's nuke on Austin was no way what scum would do, at least after Austin flipped. I kinda stopped watching the game at that point. But that's what came to my mind.

And even then I wasn't actually lying. No matter what anyone else did, VE was dying unless he had a role to avoid lynches.

I sent the command to kill VE before you revealed him as thingee.

I didn't really give a shit the last few days, since everyone outside of [shevlurker, vivax, yamato] was either guaranteed town already, or going to be hardconfirmed by roles (in the case of sinani)
So I understood why yamato didn't give a shit anymore.

So, as I told people multiple times, I didn't really give a fuck who got lynched first since out of those three the game was a sure win.

A bit sad sinani saved shelvlurker with his vote-rig, but it's okay. what's a brother to do.
At least this way I still got to policylynch Vivax for being bad, which is always a plus.


btw, M_Z nuking austin was funniest moment in the game, lol.
