Without that our KP on T1 and T2 would have been almost nothing. Only DFTP's burn deck would have been able to do much. If you then take in account that draft decks will likely be even slower.. it will be T3 before anyone will be lynched at the earliest.

with a couple of tweaks (global cards, cards that effect everyone, deck tweaks) then the situation would/could have been avoided with a player being able to kill everyone day 3 or something. seems it's just a little refinement that's needed, not an overhaul. this is to say nothing of whether draft is good or bad, btw

A draft is nice and all, but not as many people have experience with drafts. That will lead to different kinds of inbalance. If you end up having to play with a gimp deck it might not be so much fun. If a little more time is taken to balance the decks there shouldn't be a problem with the original system. EDH + some multiplayer restrictions should make things pretty cool. for those not in the know about EDH, it's a system that has some restrictions on the cards you can use, one of the being that you can only have one of each card in your deck except basic lands. This means it will be much harder to build around some killer combo.

I was actually JUST about to sugest EDH (elder dragon highlander for those of you who don't know.) http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php I would be totally /IN for an EDH mtg mafia

EE for 7, pulling Grapeshot, Grapeshot, Braid, Volcanic, Cascade, Psychic, Mind's Desire. Cast Braid, Grapeshot(3), Grapeshot(4), Psychic, Mind's Desire(6). Pull Mind's Desire, Empty the Warrens, Cunning Wish, Minds Desire, Braid, Psychic, Reverberate. Cast Cunning Wish (put Comet Storm in my hand), Braid, Psychic, Empty the Warrens(10), Mind's Desire(11) Pull Grapeshot, Cunning Wish, Cascade Bluffs, Brightstone Ritual, Grapeshot, Scalding Tarn, Brightstone Ritual, Cunning Wish, Braid of Fire, Empty the Warrens, Mind's Desire Cast Wish, Braid, Brightstone, Brightstone, Grapeshot(16), Empty the Warrens(17). Allow both Brightstones to resolve, generating 38 R mana. Cast Comet Storm from hand targeting all other players, deal 32 damage to each. GG. First and foremost: I don't see how you cast EE for 7. You have 5 lands, so that means you cast it for 3, unless you have some of the red rituals in your hand (that don't rely on goblins). If you were counting on Braid, it's blatantly cheating. You get the mana in your upkeep, so using it on anything other than instants is crazy and I don't know why you thought your Braid could be used for Sorceries. The mind boggles that this was even considered an option. Second: you couldn't cast Braid for free, because it's not an instant or a sorcery. So what you would have been able to do is cast a Grapeshot for 2 and then a Grapeshot for 3. Nobody would have died but you ![]() EDIT: looked what you claimed in your hand. Even with the braid mana, you would have EE'd for 5, which would not have given you the Mind's Desire and you would have had to hard cast the one you didn't randomly discard, for which you wouldn't have mana. GG.

Second: ignore the first braid, its irrelevant. I pulled two more Mind's with my first one. Thats gg.

![]() We also have stuff that happens in the upkeep and asked Artanis specifically about how to play them. We were told to PM him anything that we wanted back from the GY during end of turn / upkeep. The lack of upkeep phase was clearly not intended to allow the kind of thing like using braid as serious mana acceleration. I'm sure there was a reason you weren't allowed to play P9 + second tier artifact mana accel. Trying to work around that restriction in this manner should undoubtedly have been discussed with the host first and making assumptions about what happens with "upkeep mana" was obviously twisting the rules quite seriously. Oh, and we clearly wouldn't have died in the morning if you had tried to EE for 3, or even 5 on D3. Hardcasting Mind's Eye the next day would have gotten you nowhere.
