Game is over! Town wins!
*LSB is helping me co-host this game. Any questions can be directed towards him or myself.
NOTE: THIS GAME USES CLUES!!! This means that at the beginning of each day there will be parts of the day post that pertains to the killers' profiles. Because of this, it is required that your profile has enough information to base clues on. I will NOT hunt down individual people and tell them to update their profiles; I have better things to do than baby lazy players. I will be taking screenshots of each profile at the beginning of the game, linking them to the player list, and that will be that. At the minimum, I recommend having a profile picture and a quote. If you don't have anything, we will be forced to use something dumb like your name or user icon. You have been warned!
TL Mafia XXXVI + Show Spoiler [Important Posts] +
Introduction: Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. It's much like a game of poker because mafia members are also part of the town during the day and may manipulate the vote to their liking. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win. The town's goal is to lynch all the members of the mafia.
The game is typically very active, so the thread will get big quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. If you do not have the time or patience to read the whole thread, do not play. I will not compensate for ignorance.
Rules: Cheating: Cheating includes (but is not limited to): 1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information. 2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town. 3. Logging on to someone else's account / looking over someone's shoulder to get their role. 4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles. 5. Posting screenshots of your inbox. 6. Posting any PM you receive from a host. 7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip. 8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts. Cheating is not tolerated here. The punishment will be severe.
Posting: Mod Font: This is mod font. It is reserved for moderators. Please do not use it.
Question Font: This is question font. Use it to ask the moderators questions about the rules.
Activity: You must post in this thread once per day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.
Spam: Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. Do not discuss Proleague here. Do not talk about Starcraft II here. Play Mafia here.
Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything
Inappropriate posts: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate.
Play to win.
You have been warned. + Show Spoiler +Something burning-hot and life-ending this way comes.
Voting rules: 1. Voting is done in a separate thread to be created when the game starts. Please keep votes there, and only vote there. Do not PM me your vote. 2. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Qatol. Votes not done in the correct fashion will not be counted. I will update vote counts whenever I get the chance. 3. No conditional voting. 4. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game. 5. In the event of a tie the person with the most votes first wins. 6. Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain.
Signups: You may only play in one game other than this one, regardless of size. Signups will remain open until all 32 spots have been filled. You are welcome to sign up as a backup if you are not currently able to play.
Game-specific rules: Modkills: This game follows the TL Mafia Ban List. If you are modkilled, your punishment will go beyond being eliminated from this game. Please refer to it for questions about your punishment.
Flipping: Player alignment and role WILL NOT be revealed on death.
Clues: There are clues.
PMs PMs are NOT allowed in this game.
The election: I ask that any potential mayor not begin their campaign before the game starts.
Time Cycle: This game will follow a 24 hour night/48 hour day cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Currently the deadline is 18:00 PST / 21:00 EST / 11:00 KST, but that is subject to change.
Credits: Thanks to anyone who has ever hosted a game. This list grows ever longer. Thanks to Qatol, Ver, and my co-host (LSB) for helping to balance this game.
If you have not read all the rules, go back and do so. I will not compensate for ignorance!

Roles
This is a semi-open setup. All roles will be disclosed, but role and alignment counts will remain hidden. Read this section carefully, it may be subject to change.
All of these roles will appear in this game in some capacity, and there will be no roles that aren't on this list.
Please note: all roles with night actions please send a PM detailing your action to both myself and LSB. The results of all night actions will be returned with the posting of the next day post.
Townie You are a townie! You may not have a special role, but you are the most important part of the town. Your job is to use clues and analysis to hunt down and lynch the mafia.
Detective You are a detective! Your job is to use your sleuthing skills to determine the true nature of players friend and foe. Every night, you may check a player to find their alignment and role.
Medic You are a medic! You can use your medical expertise to protect your fellow players. Every night, you may select a player to protect from a night hit. You may not protect yourself. If you save a player from a hit, you will both be notified of your success. Each medic protection is the equivalent of one hit – if a player takes two hits while being protected by one medic, they will die. If you protect a veteran, your ability takes precedence over theirs.
Recruiting Mason You are a recruiting mason! You use your secret clubhouse to communicate privately with other players. Every night, you may PM me a player to be added to your circle. Players in the circle have the ability to PM each other. Players in the circle will be informed of which players are added to the circle, and players added to the circle will be informed of everybody already in the circle.
Veteran You are a veteran! Your military experience gives you a second night life. It takes two successful hits on the same or two different nights to take you down. You will be informed if you lose your night life. Lynches still kill you as normal.
Vigilante You are a vigilante! You are willing to take the law into your own hands. Once per game, at night, you may PM me a player to be killed. If you succeed, a clue will be left pointing to you, just like a mafia. If your kill overlaps with a mafia or serial killer hit, your ability will not be used (unless the player has some form of protection). If your kill overlaps with another vigilante, the first hit sent in will take precedence (again, unless the targeted player has protection). You may not kill on night 1.
Mafia You are scum! Your goal in this game is to deceive and destroy the town. You win when you outnumber the town AND all serial killers are dead.
Mafia Godfather You are the nefarious leader of the mafia. The mafia chooses the godfather from amongst themselves on night 1. The godfather chooses a role to appear as when role checked. Once chosen, the false role cannot be changed. For the purposes of census, you are counted as a mafia godfather.
Mafia Roleblocker You are a mafia roleblocker! Every night, you may choose a player whose active night action you will prevent. Players will be informed that they were roleblocked regardless of whether or not an ability was actually prevented. Passive abilities, such as the veteran's extra night life and the bodyguard's protection are not affected.
Serial Killer You are a crazed, bloodthirsty killer! You hold no allegiance to anybody. Every night, you must kill another player. You are immune to night kills and role blocks. Role checks on you will return “Serial Killer”. You win when you are the only player left in the game.
Mayor You are the elected leader of the town. Elections will take place on day 1. When elected, you will publicly select two bodyguards to protect you for the rest of the game. While bodyguards are alive, you cannot be targeted by night hits or the roleblocker. Role checks on you will return “Mayor”.
You have the power of Census. Every night, you have the ability to determine the number of any alignment or role in the game. For instance, you can check the number of mafia total, OR the number of godfathers, OR the number of roleblockers in the game. The valid alignments are Town (returns the number of vanilla townies), Special Town, Mafia, and Serial Killer. All roles listed here can be counted. For the purposes of census, bodyguards, the mayor, and godfathers count as their original alignments and roles.
Bodyguard You have been chosen by the mayor to protect their life at all costs. While you are alive, the mayor cannot be killed or roleblocked. Mafia-aligned players chosen as bodyguards will not protect town-aligned mayors. Serial killer bodyguards will not protect a mayor of any alignment. Role checks still work as normal for you. For instance, a check on a mafia-aligned roleblocker that had been chosen as a bodyguard would return "Mafia Roleblocker Bodyguard".

Also this game sounds like it could have interesting mechanics in play, among other things. Mind if I look at the setup?

While bodyguards are alive, you cannot be targeted by night hits or the roleblocker. Role checks on you will return “Mayor”. This is interesting. If it has to be public and the mayor chooses them it seems like it would be stupid/impossible for the mafia to kill the mayor if one of them is a BG, on top of that if neither guard is a mafia they are free kills. I am kind of tempted to join this game.

Mafia bodyguards won't protect town mayors. It's in the bodyguard role description. ^.^

While on the same note if the mayor picks out 2 town BG's the mafia knows who to hit to be able to kill the mayor.

clues, no PMs, closed setup, NO FLIPPING, serial killer...
yeah not gonna in this one. this seems a lot more theme to me despite being labeled a standard, roman numeral mafia game.

Ye the no flipping is scary - i guess clues can make up for the loss of information and voting analysis but it sounds difficult to balance. In any case it will be an interesting experience, plenty of new mistakes for me to commit ~~
