Blazinghand you can just PM GMarshal to update when it's needed as he's pretty prone to peer pressure in PM land. And then we can have iGrok put up his game sometime soon since Ver's game will be on hold for sometime.

Time to pm GMarshal.
Enjoy your trip Foolishness!

Reading the thread I see you did indeed make exceptions, but yes the average skills are probably beyond me.
This is gold:

I guess I'd wait until Catch 22 and PTP kicked off?

is there any demand for a 3/4 faction game?
i.e. PYP: Interesting, probably without the PYP component and without the general PM component.

-> the game is just called "Interesting"

I'd be interested in playing or cohosting that. I was actually thinking of running a game like that as The Wire Mafia.
I'm not sure if I like the idea of having a multiple faction game without PMs though. To me, it seems like one of the biggest attractions of having multiple mafia teams is that you have these strange scenarios where teams temporarily cooperate to eliminate another side. It seems pretty difficult to do that without being able to send PMs. I guess you could kind of replicate that by giving each team a masoner or something, but it'd be a lot more limited.
|
It worked without (or actually with limited PMs, because Drazerk did exactly what HiroPro is saying) in Holy Roman.
|
right, I'm just saying without normal PMs. That doesn't exclude masons or telephones or anything like that.

someone should make a game with telegrams
like, you send a telegram by giving it to one of the hosts who delivers it to the recipient
and they cost like a buck five each

I was thinking of a mechanic similar to that actually. Basically you communicate via PMing the host who then passes on the messages. But they have a chance of being 'overheard' by other people.
|
Sounds like actual effort for the host
I wouldn't do it.
|
I had a telegram ability in Age of Empires mafia...it wasn't really mafia at all to be honest, but I had fun with the mechanic. I bet it would be a blast in a more typical game.
|
yeah, I did that. It's not that much effort for me but I do not know if I'd include it in this game that I'm thinking of making.
I might. We'll see I guess (it'll probably be closed setup anyway aside from the alignment counts)

Which makes it difficult to use it effectively (like sending messages an hour before vote deadline telling people to switch, etc.) But if you could somehow make it work it'd be cool.

Instead of Telegrams, have a Postal Service. Messages are always delivered at the same time each day.

when I did it, it worked like that. It was a "note" that was received anonymously at the end of the halfcycle.
The main selling point of a multifaction game, IMO, is that it promotes active scumhunting by everyone, particularly if there are no PMs involved. I can poll for PMs/no PMs; I'm willing to keep that open. In particular I think I'd be balancing the KP and lynches pretty differently, given that something like a 13 v 3 v 3 v 3 or 16 v 4 v 4 v 4 is pretty skewed toward mafia numbers-wise, though no single faction necessarily has a strong numerical advantage in comparison to the others.

I would play this discussion.
