johnnyspazz has been afk from PYP2 for over 48 hours. No idea what happened to him so I'm adding him to the list.

I warned him before the game that if he got himself modkilled again, the current policy says it would be permanent. Is that what you want?

lol oh wow. Well no not a permaban since he isn't a troublemaker at all. I'll wait till he gets back to hear what happened but he'll have to sit out for a while no matter what.

From: johnnyspazz [ 1246 posts | Profile | Buddy ] Subject: Inactivity Date: 8/25/10 13:07 I know this is going to sound really stupid because I just got off the banlist but the truth is that I moved in to college on Sunday and I did not have internet for the first two days at school because they want us to register our mac addresses with the school before we can use the internet. We had orientation activities on Monday and Tuesday was when my floor got internet access. It was just really bad timing and I didn't mean to break the flow of the game. ....I don't even know what to say. On the one hand, things were out of his control, but on the other, why would you sign up for a game when you knew you would be moving + starting college? Very irresponsible. Opinions, anyone?

Given that games don't have a definitive start date and just wait for signups, I would say heavy heavy probationary stuff but like, not ban.

Not that my opinion matters too much, but lots of schools don't require orientation, but the internet issue is understandable. Do remember, PYP2's sign ups started around when Caller's "whippersnappers" post for a game. (What happened to that? =[ ) I would suggest a no ban in that situation, but that's just my opinion. He should definitely be warned that he needs to evaluate important things that are coming up, and decide if he can be active enough in a game of mafia.
And now to find Caller....

About that... -__-
I lost my temper. Was having a baaaaaaaaad day. I realized immediately afterwards, but I couldn't edit my post...I shouldn't have posted that.
In my defense, I actually like Bill =/

Everyone's opinion matters. Elitism is already a problem here. I'd rather not make that problem worse. I noticed that Ace hasn't actually modkilled jspazz yet. Is this correct? In which case he should just start posting again. Otherwise it seems that people are advocating a warning? I'd still like to hear Ace weigh in.

I replaced Jspazz with Subversion

Ouch permaban sounds harsh. I think he just has to sit out for a while(like very long) and doesn't get preference for most games. But that is up to individual mods.

Am I getting softer? Permabans are detrimental. I'd think the system should just be changed to an increasing number...
|
So are we thinking of just increasing the number some more? 1/3/5/7/9....? I agree that permaban is harsh. When we were discussing it, I honestly didn't think that anyone would get modkilled 3 times. I mean, that's a lot of sitting out games.

someone like jspazz certainly adds to the meta, because it makes you think that when a host makes up a roster they dont want him on mafia or to have a PR
maybe it doesnt have to be a linear increase in games and instead for the 3rd it could just be like a month not allowed in any games, or two months or something?
seems easier to keep track of at least

seems easier to keep track of at least Actually, game #s are pretty easy to keep track of. New thread + someone contacts host or me = 1 game sat out.

hm, fair enough! well i like the idea of games for the first warning or two, i just meant beyond that. But if it's easy for you to keep track of that ban thread then that's cool. just a suggestion
i mean i guess the people practically keep track of it for you for the most part lol, a person is probably pretty on the ball for when they're getting unbanned from games

The harder part is keeping track of the new modkills and when games start/end.

Just to be sure, there were no bans from PYP2, yes? And nobody was using the game against a ban sentence? I feel weird not having to update the OP a bunch after a game ends.
