If I was another country, I'm not sure I would like this U.S. team, but you see that showmanship (Westbrook) because they respect their opponents to some extent. The Dream Team didn't have to show any of that because they didn't have to try and didn't have to try against them.
I missed most of the 3rd, but looking at the scores, you have to think that the lack of depth on Argentina doomed them from the start. They couldn't keep up the blistering pace on offense and the U.S. could. Yea, Argentina's bench couldnt keep up.

I couldn't tell for sure but can anyone confirm that the Argentina guy wacked Carmelo in the nuts?

Was it the bench, though? The US made a run during the third quarter, which starters normally play. It's roughly at the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth that starters sit out. In the NBA, the start of the fourth is when most of the star players rest during the second half.
From what I remember of the halftime stats, the US had a 1-point lead while Argentina had a roughly 10% lead in FG%. The US was winning in the rebounding and turnover departments. When the FG% equalized in the 3rd, Argentina was done for.

What a dick. I loved his play in the first half, but that's just nasty and stupid.

Shaq had a 7'7" wingspan, and Perkins is the same (or 7'6.5")
Pau Gasol's 7'5", Kevin Garnett's similar, 7'5"+ it may sound one of a kind but it's not in the nba. I think Darko and Roy Hibbert are up there as well.

We didn't talk about Brazil-Spain much, but I thought it was a really interesting game. Spain seemed almost totally dependent on their bigs for production. Spain seemed like the better team for most of the game, but Brazil was the more energetic team. Thing is, I don't know if they can beat Team USA that way.

I think Argentina played pretty well until the 3rd quarter. It's like in the NBA where the better team is usually the most consistent one playing good from the beginning to the end of the game. It's tough to play good for the whole game but for anybody to have a chance at beating the U.S. they need to do just that as well as have the U.S. not play up to par.

You gotta admit though, that you need some balls to pull off a dickmove just in front of the US bench! >.<
OT question: Does coach K really get 4m$ each year as a college coach? Does he also do advertising and/or has personal sponsors? I know there have always been NBA offers, well now i understand why he prefers to stay a legend at Kentucky. He and Greg Popovich (6m, says google) are really worth their money imho.

Doesn't he coach Duke? And yeah, I can see Duke having that type of money.

Oops my bad mixed something up there. Unfortunately US college basketball is non existent in German media. Just knew that many have tried to lure him into the NBA for quite a while and was surprised when i googled his salary, concerning the rules for money and college players. (which is a good thing)

Top tier college (american) football and basketball coaches all have million dollar or multi-million dollar salaries. Football especially, I think you have to get out of the top 50 before it drops below one million/year.
|
Considering how much money football makes for colleges a ton of them are worth every penny. Same for the top tier Bball coaches.
|
Makes you wonder where all the money goes considering tuition costs. =P

Would be so funny if spain loses against france, after throwing away their match against brazil to avoid USA.
