msi starting today. the whole thing behind lpl not coming to msi is really bullshit though. their excuse for not attending just went to shit when the asian games got postponed entirely, so there isnt any reason now for rng to not fly to korea immediately. yet now all teams have to play on 35 ping to accommodate rng and apparently riot just enforced a mask policy for players in busan. not only does korea itself not require such policy, its not even in riot's own msi rulebook. players with glasses have to play with masks on and periodically wipe their glasses when it inevitably fogs up, meanwhile rng players will be chilling in their accommodation in china. riot doing literally everything they can short of handing the trophy to rng on a silver platter to try and give rng the title.
Yeah, MSI is a big mess, not sure why Riot decided to do it this way, they're also back tracking on the masks, how could they not clarify such an important thing. But I don't think it's enough to beat T1.
day 1 provided enough evidence that as long as its an lpl team, riot doesnt give a fuck about enforcing rules. rng played in their accommodation without face cams, a ref, headsets or msi monitors (as per riot's own rulebook). rng literally playing in scrim conditions while the rest of the tourney plays on a shaky artificial ping system just to accommodate rng. a couple of the rng players were literally barefoot during the game. riot actually has a rule against this also, not that it practically makes a difference to performance, but it speaks to the attitude rng players have about maintaining competitive integrity. the whole thing is a farce and rng has absolutely no shame.
not to mention the schedules for groups is rigged as well because rng is finishing their group matches earlier than lck teams 2 years in a row. if you look at how the 2021 schedule was set and apply the same methodology to this year, rng and t1's schedules were supposed to have been swapped. yet t1 finishes their group matches 2 days after rng still
i havent watched any lcs except finals highlights but how shit must the rest of lcs have been if eg was the one to advance? danny is god awful. is he always this bad? i think this ezreal performance is actually the worst pro ez ive seen in my life

No way, they didn't really show this, did they? Man, this MSI is just pure comedy, this is what IPL and IEM were sacrificed for. Especially because the 'NA sucks' meme is being kept alive, G2 played like monkeys but it's still not enough.

Of course they still played it. They're still a sponsor so they gotta make that money. You'd think SOMEONE would have redone the commercial to get rid of references to "zero ping plays". Even if its just mute the voice for that single line
LMAO, they changed RNG's score to 0-0, making all the effort of their games completely void. wtf is Riot doing? bizarre decision-making and feels so bad for the players to have to play games again. also rip Gala Penta

I don't know if it's bizarre to want to replay games that were played with a ping disparity as claimed. It's awkward and I feel like it probably wouldn't have significantly changed any results, but there's definitely a competitive integrity argument to be made there.
The bizarre thing to me is the decisions that led up to artificially creating a ping disparity in the first place.
the irony of riot claiming games had to be remade because of competitive integrity, but rng is playing from home without refs or headsets. rng should not be playing in msi, period. remaking these games is damage control; nothing to do with preserving competitive integrity
Of course RNG should be playing in MSI. They should be playing AT MSI. Asian games gets cancelled and they should instantly get flown in. They could start their games today to give them time to adjust for jetlag and be REALLY 0-0 today and have everyone on LAN
lmao what a clown show, RNG put out a "statement" (tweet) about how they were given unfair treatment. Yes, RNG are the true victims here
A more complete statement here. Still boils down to "they're the victims here" even though they are being especially catered to by being allowed to participate in the first place.
That Caps play minute 5 was disgusting, dude is making a good case for best midlaner at MSI.

They are victims, the have nothing to gain from this change and everything to lose. I don't think anyone with a shred of credibility would disagree that RNG should stomp these teams. It sucks big time for their opponents, who played a better team with ping like molasses. At least they have a chance to grab wins, a single win vs RNG will flip this group completely around.
Everyone should be pointing fingers at Riot, they are taking the 'small indie company' too literally. This fake ping solution is garbage and they even managed to implement it incorrectly.
Edit: Game 2 vs EG is another Caps highlight reel, this man is on a mission.
You cannot be the victims in a situation where you are being given unique treatment that no one else would get because that unique treatment isn't perfect. They are beyond lucky that Riot didn't tell them that its a LAN, if you can't make it you can't make it (like Vietnam for the past 2 years), or tell them that they're just going to have to connect in and get what they get.

Ofc they can be victims despite being given preferential treatment. The 35 ping rule was added to give equal disadvantage to both teams, how was RNG supposed to know that Riot would fuck it up for their opponents (and not just 1 game, but the entire first round robin). Don't get me wrong, their opponents are bigger victims, they didn't even get 35 ping, but Riot messed this up for everyone.
It so tragic, poor RNG. I've never seen such injustice. Imagine not being able to attend a tournament and expecting to be disqualified due to, well, i guess, not attending. Luckily, Riot understood the pain of RNG, or the chinese region as a whole, and gave them an opportunity to participate, while the only downside was that all other teams had to play with cancerous circumstances through no fault of their own. But, of course, since everyone has cancerous circumstances, all is equal and thus fair. Thank the righteous spirit of Riot.
i think t1 is still considered favourites despite the good showing from g2 today. if g2 beats t1 in their rematch then that would be a surprise but throughout the entire spring season at least t1 has often lost game 1 and come back to win games 2/3 and i expect more of the same this time too.
