That sounds very backwards unless by asian you mean 'non-korean.'

I guess that's confusing since those from GPL are asian as well so yeah sorry about that I'd rather say that it'd be surprising if they manage to beat All or FNC, let alone asian teams :p

What I mean is that it would be far, far more shocking for them to beat one of the Korean teams, but the implication of 'let alone Alliance or Fnatic' is that they are the 'teams to beat' going into worlds, and would be the real 'shock the world' upsets.
That's why I thought perhaps you meant Asian as in non-Korean because then it actually makes a little sense(although I don't follow closely enough to know where they are perceived with regards to the mentioned European teams).

this is a very complicated grammar issue

People doubting Curse coming in to at least this match haven't been paying attention.

We'll have to see how C9 do, but damn. wait wtf, what happened to curse and why are they suddenly 'worlds material'? I thought it was just awful play by clg more than worlds caliber play from curse. they definitely improved so that they aren't 'lol4ever4thhahaha' but I'd be VERY surprised if they manage to beat an asian team let alone alliance or fnatic.
Curse looked way better than TSM, so it's Worlds material by default. Especially, their decisionmaking improved a lot, their laning was always decent but now they look stronger than ever, and i really expect them to at least force Game 5 against Cloud 9, if not winning it all. On the other hand, Curse might get swept by both C9 and TSM now, i won't be surprised either.
Not like they're going to get out of the groups at Worlds, but for team, which i, for one, was expecting to be relegated this season, it's huge success, even if i don't know who is their new coach who transformed the team completely.

As much as I like Montecristo I think he was the biggest problem here and he should step down from his coach position if he has respect for the team. CLG remains an average/bottom team as it shows ; this doesn't change from the "pre-monte" era.
They clearly did not have solid strats against Curse (which is all on Monte), and going to Korea right before an important match was an extremely risky move which didn't pay off as expected. The addition of Seraph, which is Monte's idea, really didn't do anything great for CLG.
The team even showed forms of arrogance that Montecristo seems to have encouraged : underestimating the bottom NA teams while they are in fact one of them now, Doublenoob and Aphro thinking they "can go against top Korean botlanes"...
Montecristo did everything wrong and should take responsibilty for it. Not only did he not improve the overall performances of CLG, but anyone who tries to find the causes of CLG's crushing defeat can see that Montecristo's attitude is one of them. The excuse that he has, which is that he didn't spend enough time with the team yet, doesn't work, because the result that we witnessed has a lot to do with his own move : the Korean bootcamp, which means that we did see what Montecristo's coaching influence looks like through this match.

Despite getting 0-3'd, they DID looks a lot better than when they left. As much as I shit on CLG and the Korea trip, it was the only right call to make. Maybe Rush Hour can go against Korean botlanes. The only way to know is if you watch the scrims and it's pretty obvious who has and who hasn't. What I remember form an interview is that the Koreans had a culture shock dealing with Aphro's aggressiveness. Meanwhile, NA has been contending it the whole reason.

well the lol subreddit has well and duly gone to sh!t. The level of schadenfreude is pretty amazing >>
Someone recommend me games to watch from both TSM-DIG and CRS-CLG? I caught the tail-end of one of the TSM-DIG games (thought it was a bit of a joke tbh) but that's about it.

First two of TSM-Dig are a complete trainwreck but it was a hilarious trainwreck and first game of CLG-Crs was alright until it ended in the stupidest way possible

Honestly, neither of 7 games was a standout, but if i was choosing 1-2, i would have gone for game 2 between TSM and Dignitas, it was better than first and had funny ending.
From Curse-CLG, neither probably, well, if you want to see stomps as TSM fanboy, for example, you watch g2 and g3. G1 was okay but Gosh.

I'm definitely not denying their improvement and whatnot but calling them world's material just sounded weird to me. I guess in a literal sense it's correct since they have a decent chance of actually getting into world's, but we don't call mineski or gamma bears world class do we? I mean it's great that they showed a good series against a team that bootcamped in korea but let's not jump the gun here. But yeah i'm happy for curse fans and its been a while since curse didn't look like a joke team thats in LCS only because the challenger scene is no better. As for CLG, I'm worried. Losing this hard after a bootcamp and missing worlds back to back has got to be traumatic.
Traumatic or not, it's not like CLG were winning championships for last 2,5 years. Anyway, i don't see them sticking together, if Doublelift wants to give a last shot in chasing the dream, he will just stick with Aphromoo and recruit whole new team, because i expect Link to go back to college, dexter to go back to Europe and Seraph backing to Korea.
Or stick with Link but find a psychologist for him, find jungler/toplaner and give a last shot. If it's going to fail, at least they will know that they gave everything they had.

It's easy to keep a minimum of passion like soaz when you're always winning but dlift really hasn't whether due to himself or his team I won't make a call there, but I wouldn't be surprised if aphromoo is the only one left from this iteration of CLG by the start of next split. I think most likely CLG will continue to invest in seraph's potential, dexter goes back to EU, link might stay or go back to college, dlift retires and aphro stays if he wants to.
That's what i thought instantly after 3-0 yesterday and almost crying Doublelift, but hell, i will never try to predict counter logic moves. And i don't really believe that Aphro wants to play with lesser adcs in NA, if only he's not joining the Cloud 9.
I dunno though, how will i be able to watch CLG without Doublelift, it's such long time since his move into team. No legacy is going to be left unless HSGG continues to casually sub for midlaner once in a split.

Bring in NukeDuck next season (should be unbanned by that point I think) and pair the famous Lemondogs Synergy.

Pobelter is perfectly fine in EG if they find legit toplaner, they're going to crack top-3.
CLG Ambition? Gosh, i will pay for it, the dream. And CLG ActScene.
Sick.

So, I'm not suprised in slightest at how beast Quas and Xpecial were, I'm glad that IWD played well, but Voy and Cop? I mean, sure, Voy got on his comfort champs, but Cop played so fuckin well holy shit, unless he redefines "choking" in semis, then Freeze/Forgiven dream is dead... Though it might simply be the effect of playing with Xpecial and EU marxman would still be an upgrade, hard to say.
I have to say that I'd still love to see TSM get their shit together next week, but worst case scenario Xpecial beats Regi (assuming they don't roflstomp C9, who knows at this point). Poor Bjerg and Amazing though. BTW where did CRS talk about their coach? I was actually wondering if they had one for some time but couldn't find any info.
