Keep the rage to a minimum. This includes wait times between games, music, and balance.
Fair warning to all. |

TSM says Frost outplayed them but then throws in, "they cheated and that ruined our level 1 strategy."
Doublelift admits to being outplayed but adds the caveat of getting purple every game.
These teams shouldn't need to come up with any excuse. Saying, "we got outplayed but also xyz happened," is a shitty attitude to have. And no, I do not believe that TSM is at the same level of teams like iG, Najin, TPA, or M5.
TSM said jack shit about possible cheating until more than 24 hours after their loss. Everything they said the night of, despite the fact that they knew about the possibility of cheating, was about how hard Frost outplayed them. They only released a statement after the issue blew up on Reddit and GD.
Sidebar: Why the fuck is TSM taking flak for talking about this incident in such a diplomatic way? Regi isn't raging and cussing out Riot like he was during WCG. They've handled this entire thing very professionally.

Another thought about the decision to remake the 3rd game of CLG.Eu vs. WE.
Regardless of how much you think that game was over for WE, Riot was in a position where they absolutely could not award that game to CLG.Eu. Look at the circumstances--the PR backlash from the Chinese LoL community would have been absolutely catastrophic. Riot knows how critical Chinese opinion of the game could be for their business in the coming year. A fiasco like that is something they absolutely could not afford. So regaming that game was effectively dodging a bullet for them.
As much as we'd like to say that the tournament should not be a PR show for the developer, it inevitably is. There's no way to avoid that.

all this makes my head hurt. lets take a time machine back to the first game 2 of CLGeu vs WE and stop Hotshot from killing the internet
|
I don't think the teamfight was completely over anyway. Corki was still alive with full health and CLG's ad was dead. I've heard people make cases in both ways and even if it's 10% chance it's not fair to give them the 3rd game.
|
I don't see how you could possibly award CLGeu with a win during the d/c after not giving WE a win in game 2. It'd be like the epitome of bias.

No he wasn't. Yellowpete is alive and well(err, alive and 1/3rd hp with GA) when the game crashes. They can't give them the game, but CLG almost 100% does win that fight based on the video from the venue. People arguing that WE would win are operating off of outdated screenshots.

I haven't seen the WE original game 2, but supposedly it was a 3k gold lead which I don't think anyone would argue is an assured win game. WE was in the lead but they still could easily have lost. The original game 3 where CLG EU was winning is a stronger case for a decision win in my opinion but there is enough doubt that if they had awarded a win (if the rules allowed it) it would cause drama.
Either way fans would be pissed just like the finals of Flash vs Jaedong with the heater causing a power outage. Jaedong was winning by a lot but there was doubt over whether Flash could make a come back. Jaedong was awarded the win, fan backlash and Flash very upset.
It would be great if there was a constant save system like Dota2 but SC1 being old and LoL being originally low budget were not made with that option possible. But yes it's in the rules to remake, although I really hope they would not remake if CLG was killing the Nexus turrets with WE dead.
|
Why are you guys trying to argue over screenshots on who won the "3rd" game" the calls done. champions got killed when the venue got the net back. It's in the rules to remake so they remade. I don't see the point of discussing "what if's" here. It wasn't an issue of Riot not wanting to upset one fanbase or another, it's an issue of rules being followed. *boggle*

LoL has a save system we saw it at Cologne? when CLGNA disconnected before the final team fight.

Too busy making teemo hats It's just a result of Riots arrogance and the complete lack of knowledge, foresight and experience. It was the first time they organized something of this scale on their own and you would think they would consult someone that has plenty of experience(i.e. MLG for instance) on how this should be done.At least study and copy other organizations if you don't want to approach them directly. They focused on how to make the event as big and flashy as possible instead of practical and functional. From the lighting, stage setup, screens positions, booths(or lack thereof),caster desk location, etc. It feels like they gave everything into the hands of someone who has no idea about how a esport stage should look like and what the basic needs are. Overall it's good that they had something like this to ground them imo,up till now Riot was just a bunch of people that hit the big jackpot with their game and suddenly found themselves with more money than they know what to do with really and as a result have skewed priorities. The internet thing was unfortunate but than again I remember a certain CEO that got burned hard over the exact same thing and the first thing they did after was get satellite trucks.I guess Riot want's to learn it the hard way.

Then it's still absolutely idiotic that the rules do not make use of the save system despite it's existence.

Supposedly the tournament build has a save system. The specifics of how it actually works are pretty iffy, mostly because it's only been employed once or twice and isn't available in the regular game build.

Yes, yes it is stupid that the rules are not updated. That's an actual point but swapping screens saying "This game was in the bag for X" is silly.

I don't know how you possibly run an event like this without going over the rules three times over to make sure you didn't write something this stupid and outdated into them.
