Keep the rage to a minimum. This includes wait times between games, music, and balance.

Fine, WE was ahead on the first match that DC'ed. But CLG had everything going for them in the other matches that DC'ed.
This event reeks of failure on riot's side. I hope they learned from valve and i2 I firmly believe that CLG could not have won the first game that got DCed. As we saw from the next few games CLG really only has one strategy and that is to take it waaay into the lategame where they are better at decision making and positioning in teamfights, then win one big teamfight or slow-push into next week. They wouldn't have been able to do this the first game that got DCed because they had short term memory loss or something and didn't think banning Blitz was a good idea. There is no way they could have turtled into the late game the way WE was landing those hooks. And lo and behold after the remake the only difference in bans was CLG banning out Blitz. I understand that what happened with the remakes had to happen, and you can't blame either team for it, but if we are talking about who would have won without any DC's then it would be WE 2-0 100%. Either way, Riot does need to make sure this doesn't happen again. As great as things like the French stream later in the day was, it does not look favorably upon Riot.
A large part of CLG's later game is also centered around ward starving the opposing team (IE clearing wards and forcing the support to replace them and buy more, keeping the support low on items). You can't do that against a team with a blitz, because when you try to clear the ward you will get hooked.

i think its about their immediate reaction after the pause. but it doesnt matter since regi admitted that they looked themselves by stating that they saw azubu look at the screen.

That's such an obvious cop out statement by Regi/Dyrus. It is easy to say oh we were just looking at Frost to make sure they were looking at the minimap, when everyone is pitchforking Frost right now. There's no doubt in my mind that Dyrus also looked at the minimap...quite frankly i think a ton of teams also did it.

Of course, and as such the blame lies with Riot for not creating an environment where this could not happen. Riot facilitated cheating by the way they set up the stage, and by not having both soundproofed headsets and soundproofed booths.

It doesn't even matter who what how, it just shouldn't be an option. Even if hypothetically no one looked, simply having those screenshots out there casting doubt on the integrity of the competition is more than enough damage to stump any possible reason for refusing to use booths. Riot dun goofed.

I just rewatched Frost's group stage VODs. In all 3 games, Shy checked bush before MadLife put ward down.
Every. Single. Time.
Quite frankly, TSM should've known that Shy would be checking the bush if they saw previous days play. And since Shy picked Jayce there was no reason for him to face-check.

Last time I watched pro LoL it was the curse vs dignitas sharing the money. This time I watched the most incredibly boring games and get a DC at the only team fight, where CLG.eu was going to win the series for sure and it becomes a remake. Watching pro LoL, always seems to dissapoint, maybe I'll stick to just playing.

Total defeat for Riot in the eSports field. This tournament is an absolute disaster caused directly by Riot's total incompetence in planning it. I'm quite a fanboy of this game, but Valve and DoTA 2 just scored a huge victory in the reputation and eSports department without doing anything at all.

Well Valve did do something... put on a solid tournament.

Where should I look for the most recent anouncements regarding date of that game and semifinals?
|
I couldn't give a damn about clg.eu and we, I feel sorry for M5 and TPA, who put on the best games so far and who are both in great form. I doubt they looked at the big screens, they wouldn't have time, balls deep in constant team fights

Not a fan of the game but when there's a million $ on the line as an esports enthusiast one has the obligation to follow the development.

The thing is the minimap is supposet to be off during a pause... so more fuck ups by riot. If you see the same screenshot, Regi is actually talking to an admin two seats down from Dyrus - so unless Dyrus is really stupid he wasn't trying to sneak a glance. The sentiment seems to be that Regi was explaining to the admin that the minimap/screen was still on during the pause and Dyrus overheard and looked at it.
So Regi also must have looked as well since how else would he know it was still on? If it was from previous sets as a spectator, shouldn't he have talked to the admins before hand? And Dyrus also looked, doesn't matter if it was a reaction. For all we know, Frost might have been checking to see whether the mini maps were turned off.
I think everyone agrees that the setup was just stupid.

It actually occurred to me that the choice of the outside venue + rotating stage basically ruled out any chance of soundproof booths being used. Because the stage rotates with the back teams being prepared beforehand, riot would have needed two pair of booths as well as deal with the inherent danger involved with having to rotate them and mount them accordingly.
The fact that the venue is outside does several things to the booths. The first is that the booth will often intensify the glare from the sun and so might add to the glare problems many players were already having. The second is the fact that booths in LA would basically cause the players to be cooked alive without some sort of air conditioner unit right inside the booths

I know they don't want booths for the players because it cuts them off from the crowd, but surely there has to be a way to, at least in the future, put some sort of vision block in the way of the big screen so the players can't see it? I mean, you could have a kind of "roof" or some shit, just to make sure the players can't look. They'd still be able to see and hear the crowd, but not the minimap.
Or am I missing something here?

You guys must be really butthurt by the Korean dominance in SC2 at the time. If someone really wanted to invest the time to catch any other teams cheating then I am sure they would find it. When Reginald said they looked over at AZUBU frost, they could also see AZUBU frost's minimap... So it's not like they didn't peek too. I mean it's really the fault of their being no booths I think. Please stop this bullshit. The fact that Azubu just pinged the exact position of all TSM just after the pause is just ridiculous and this has nothing to do with the supposed dominance of korean. A real mannered team would have asked for a regame if they had seen the map just by reflex. The game was only on for 2 min or something, and seeing 4 member of TSM going top is a huge deal.
Also, just saying but M5 will crush azubu.

I think the decision went something like this:
"Bro bro bro how cool would it be to host an event OUTSIDE" "BRO BRO BRO YOU ARE A GENIUS" "I know bro I know"

Where else in LA can they have it?
I think LA Live was a perfect venue for it ....it just wasn't set up optimally.

Rotating stage is pretty silly. For a tournament of this magnitude they could do all kinds of things to cut down on down-time. At TI2 they had a hard-drive for every single player, in-between matches they just swapped out hard-drives and then you're on your own set-up again with all your drivers for mice + hotkeys etc.

How does that eliminate the downtime of setting up and testing the external hardware? That is where most of the time is lost in between games.
