Keep the rage to a minimum. This includes wait times between games, music, and balance.

TPA lost pretty convincingly when they played various Korean teams in Battle Royal. They even lost to MVP White, which is currently considered to be not as good as Azubu or Najin teams. iG was on a roll in Battle Royal until they lost to Azubu Blaze 3-0, but the internet connection was pretty bad and it was very obvious from the games. When they came back, they beat Azubu Frost 3-2 in very entertaining series. Although they lost to LG-IM in the following match, but they are pretty good. Biggest strength of iG is that they have a wide range of champions they can play in each lane and throws various strategies at their opponent. This method definitely benefits them more in a series than bo1. M5 better do their homework, or they might just get caught off-guard.
I expect Sword to steamroll TPA. The other games I think will be quite entertaining. I predict semifinals to be CLG.eu vs Azubu Frost in revenge match of The Champions Summer Final and M5 vs Najin Sword in super aggressive game with tower dives left and right.

Icefrog was apparently made aware of this from facebook and replied "he will be punished" or something to that effect
Fyi, IceFrog does not have a facebook account, it's a fake.

I honestly didnt like how Riot hyped up the Finals. They said theyre gonna take it to the next level and show the world how eSports should be done, but its basically comparable to Asus ROG or IEM in my opinion. They should deliver if they promise that kind of stuff.

That said, the fact that the groups happened and were broadcasted on the main stage instead of at a random room inside valve should have been a plus if not for the second point. Production Value, having been to TI2 and after talking to friends who went to the world finals, they simply do not compare. The outdoor venue, while done fairly well, is far inferior in almost every way to the concert hall valve spent a week meticulously preparing. The lack of soundproof booths and having to deal with the silly weather and poor seating at an outdoor event were both major complaints. The first led to the game having to be casted in a non-interactive manner without a lot of the emotion and crowd responses that made TI2 so great. The weather outside and the way it varied during the day and dipped after sunset was quite uncomfortable for many of the casters and the people I talked to Overall Atmosphere - Aside from the korean casting ogn staff (with their excellent balance between banter and analysis and the couch that made the Chinese casters rather jelly), the entire event felt somewhat unpolished and unprofessional (but only in direct comparison to TI2). This comes from the combination of the lack of hype, the lower quality of the non-game content, the venue, and the way the event started an hour late, etc etc. Caveat LoL World Championships has its finals a week from now and has the potential to use the feedback from the prior events to craft a much better show next week Show nested quote +On October 05 2012 19:50 Sableyeah wrote: Why does M5 and TSM get first pick in first game while Taipei Assasins and World Elite not? l337noScope480xXx Coin Flipping skillz i'd imagine
I agree with everything here.
Also something to bring up is that I don't understand why the teams are playing so little games. It's the World Finals and 4 teams get sent home after only playing 3 games (3 bo1s is terrible when you consider the imbalance of the map/first pick). Today another 4 teams go home, with each team only playing a max of 3 more games. What's more if the auto seeded teams (the 4/5 teams getting seeded was the most retarded shit I've seen in a long time) lose there first games they will go out having only played 2 or 3 games. So it's possible 8/12 teams go home after only playing 3 games. For a hyped up world finals with this amount of prize pool on the line the format is completely insufficient. With the format I can easily see a team who don't really deserve it getting much further than they should.

Whether or not they use all the seats, there is likely a big crowd attending. Just the playoffs going on right now, finals are on the 13th.

This event is part of the finals, you can't just ignore it.

I dunno.....having 13 language streams all with thousands and thousands of viewers each? That alone is very very impressive.

Partially, hyping big plans for the finals then hosting it a week after this. Suggests they are considering some crazy things for just that day. On top of offering a 2 million dollar prize pool, free hd streams to online viewers. Giving easy access to companies etc, to get this on a real global stage. I think they have done plenty so far.

So people kinda mentioned that there are translators for the Chinese/Korean streams. Is that to English? Is it possible that I could watch subtitled Asian commentary rather than the English commentary?

How would subtitles be possible on a live stream?

Having a lot of viewers because the game is so popular is nothing to do with how impressive the actual event is.

Rotating stages Player/Team intro videos Individual static cameras for each player at their PC Good video content Crystal clear stream Professionally dressed hosts/casters
....seems pretty top notch to me.

There hasn't been any technical difficulties as well, thankfully. Though the audience output is a bit small, (but it was thursday, so understandable).

lets say TSM loses to Azubu, that would mean that he fan favorites only got to play 1 match in the whole tournament. That rly sucks. Do you ppl think they will change the format for the next year? i really hope so

You obviously aren't from Europe. The streams have been horribly laggy, with screen freezes and audio loss. It got way better as the night went on though, and no issues when group b started.
