The only thing they play for is money, and if you remove that there's not much left :/ MLG doesn't really have any prestige unfortunately.
This happens in real sports all the time.
For example, in the NHL it is more than common to see 4th liners getting 30 minutes of icetime while the stars warm the bench in the last couple games of the season when the playoff spots are already clinched.

In reality though it doesn't make sense for Curse or Dig to pull out their best stuff with championships and those huge prizepools looming in the near future for what is a very minor tournament. Hence why TSM straight up skipped this tourney. Yeah this is really fun. People on this site don't like fun. Everything has to be super serious and professional. I blame Marcou for that stupid circuit point thing. People don't like fun because they are all scared of hurting DA ESPORTS ELEPHANT. :D
I swear the only thing negative that has been said was that mlg might not like it? Too many hipsters thinking only they know how to have fun. :D
Edit: I was wrong : O

It's basically like ordering a good steak from getting a restaurant and you're served a hamburger with A1 on it.
Not sure about that analogy. The crowd was entertained and compared to a normal game this one had 100x the action because thats what ARAM is and why it appeals to people. It is the equivalent of resting starters but instead of that your resting your strategies while adding a little Zaz into the action.

ya its all and "fun" until you realize there are actual crs/dig fans that possibly bought mlg gold or tickets expecting them to play at their best in a serious game.

These teams obviously feel that this game never should have happened or they wouldn't be doing this. Splitting the money or not, I don't give a shit whether the 2, or 10, people playing the game try to have fun. I care about the thousands of people that payed for legit competition.
If this game isn't important then, yeah, sucks for MLG. They made a mistake. Also the teams did too. Its the same situation. If it were found out that a GSL championship didn't involve money splitting but did involve the two opponents agreeing to certain strategies before-hand there would be outrage.
I guarantee fall-out.

Whether or not you have an opinion on whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, Naniwa's probe rush isn't even close to being the same. It's just not even in the same league.
Probe rushing is 100% loss 100% of the time even if you micro your heart out against a pro player. Even against plat if they know to amove, you'll still lose. Naniwa just wanted something slightly more acceptable than gging and leaving immediately.
If he'd proxy gated or 4 gated or something, there wouldn't have been a problem.
Naniwa didn't try to win, and still wouldn't have been trying to win if he'd micro'd his probes.
These guys are trying to win under restrictions they placed upon themselves. An equivalent might be if Naniwa and Nestea had decided before the game to switch races and have nani play z and nestea play p edit: and they'd both played to the best of their abilities.

Dignitas and Curse Gaming decided to go to MLG instead of declining it like TSM and CLG did. They came into MLG with the full knowledge that there was the possibility of them meeting and having to play each other. They knew that TSm and CLG would be able to watch all of their games. It is highly improper for them to suddenly decide on the spur of the moment they want to conserve strategies when they voluntarily decided to participate in MLG and knew all of the risks.

If they don´t find the finals important they shouldnt have signed up for the tournament.

I just don't see Scarra going through with this unless he'd already talked to Riot and confirmed they won't be DQ'd from regionals.

For game 1 maybe. If they kept this up for a Bo5? Everyone tunes out. No fucking way people are watching this bullshit for that long.

You can all say what you want. Most crowd LoL has had all weekend.

How are the casters coping with this, did they comment on the situation? (cant watch)

So it's ARAM for all 5 (3?) games according to MLG because both teams wanted to keep strategies secret for regionals.

I lost all respect of LoL after randomly tuning in on a break from SC2
Sorry I dont see them as competitors anymore. competitors not giving their best in a finals
how does this make MLG look like?
remember this is FINALS not some fucking exhibition match. disgrace imo. You give your all in a finals no matter what game it is.
Ever see a proffesional sport do this in a finals? no because theyre fucking proffesionals

Yeah, but everyone knows they're hiding their best strats and not giving 100% anyway. Of course no one expected a trolly ARAM, but the circuit point format already ensured that this finals would be virtually meaningless.
I still would have preferred a normal game, but oh well, what can you do
