Just no. I don't even... The whole point of GP10 is you let them run their course. Compare Philo/HoG vs Phage/Cloth. If your top lane goes into a fight, who do you think wins? im not sure what your point is. you let gp10 run their course? of course you do. the earlier you get them the more gold you are making. if you really want to get right down to when gp10 starts earning you EXTRA gold on top of the item cost, you have to subtract the cost of the stats, and then calculate how long it will take to passively generate what is left, ie what you are paying for the gp10 passive. hog for example: im just going to round to even numbers. it costs 800 gold and the health part costs 500. you are paying 300 gold for the gp10 passive. once you buy a hog you generate 18gp10 total. it takes 2.7 minutes to generate that 300 gold (300/18)x(10 which is how often you generate gold)/(60sec in a min) = 2.7 min.
Stop.
No more GP10 talk here.

If I make you miss one creep every two waves because you have 350g less of stats and I have extra stats then you, your GP10 is only just keeping up with the creep you just missed. That's the effect of GP10. One extra creep every two waves.
In something like top lane, an extra cloth armour can really make or break trades. It's a big deal.
EDIT: Ok, no more gp10 talk. PM me if you want to continue this Vap.

Sivir gives some really good poke from Boomerange Blade, a lot of kite power thanks to Ult and the spellshield is really good defensively. Can block Gragas Ult or other important spells. I like it here. Although Graves also works well too.

Fun times in the duo lane. Both qtpie and Zig getting really low.
Ali with the standaard Boots5 rush. He'll be a bit behind on farm if he doesn't get more ganks off, Nunu already has his first gp10.
People getting away with the skin on their teeth on both sides.

Go take this somewhere else. No need to mess up this thread with the benefit/utterly bad choise of gp10.

You pay 350g to upgrade your Ruby Crystal for like 20 hp and the GP10. That's a really bad trade off. You know in bot lane, when the other guy backs you push the lane and back as fast as possible. Why? Because he's about to show up in lane with more stats thanks to his items and is going to truck you. You can be sitting on 5k gold. But if the other guy has 3k but went and bought 2xDorans, a BF and a Vamp he's going to wreck your stats-less face. Upgrading HoG makes you think you have more stats but it's a lie. You don't really have those stats right now. Think of a game like MtG. What is better, Ancestral Visions or Ancestral Recall? Ancestral Recall of course. Because it gives you those 3 cards NOW. There's no point waiting for the late game if you can not get to the late game. What's that 350g spent on the HoG gp10 going to do for you when the other guy is hitting your face? Nothing. Better just kill him and be done with it. GP10 shines when nothing is going on. Because you don't need other stats like mana or cdr when nothing is happening. But when there is action going on, you want actual stats that do something for you right now. i never said gp10 was amazing on every champ and lane and in every situation. but saying they are just straight up bad or not worth the investment ever (specifically hog) i dont think is true at all.
you have to consider that there is a reason dig went 7gp10 items. i seriously doubt they got in the game and were like herp, lets all throw guys, just buy gp10 derp.
scarra in particular has a very sharp understanding of LoL and im sure he knew exactly what they were doing. whether or not this plan worked in this one game (i didnt even watch it, my point is more about gp10 in general), is not enough to say one way or the other gp10 is bad.
edit: i was typing this when you said no more gp10 talk.

scarra reallllly likes Abyssal. I see him go that item so often in solo q.
Edit: Pick is just for GP10, he does not rush DFG. Usually a NLR item after Abyssal.

#1 ult from Crumbzz. WTF...
|
Longest range Goldcard ever there :p
Donno why scara ulted there tho. he was from just behind to just infront...

It's not a bad build. It's how Froggen builds TF too. With DFG you can insta-burst people quick but I prefer to get DFG after Dcap/Lichbane.

Patoy's ults.... I think it's nerves

Scarra clearly wasn't watching wildturtle yesterday. You got to go mad aggressive with dem blue cards.
