WE is not a bunch of guys playing for lolz but a professional esports organisation. Looking at how most western teams spend most of their time (streaming solo-q), it was just a question of time until a team with a more professional approach is going to rise to the top.
it's not like we haven't seen this in every non-fps esport game ever... because this will help LoL grow inside China alot more. And China has the biggest fanbase for MOBA games and with its rising purchasing power, is probably becoming the biggest video game market in the world. It's important for LoL to have something to latch onto before DotA2 hits.

Im not saying CLG and TSM are bad now, but its just a new metagame comming up and dignitas seem more comfortable and trained in it.

It probably will, at least in making it seem that there's plenty of pay-out in LoL, as well, as a MOBA eSport aside from Dota.
Dota 1 is slowly but surely dying, though Dota 2 will give it a second life and perhaps even take it to greater heights. But just as SC 2 wasn't adopted with enthusiasm in China after BW and WC 3 died (more or less), Dota 2 may or may not work out in China. If it doesn't, then Riot is poised to control the MOBA market there with LoL, and LoL will rise in Dota's place.

The players say there isn't a mechanical skill difference but I feel like there clearly is one. Look at how Chauster and Jiji getting outfarmed by their enemy counterparts basically every single game. Definitely. Other than HotshotGG who managed to dominate certain lanes so hard to effectively freefarm, the Chinese players dominated their counterparts in farming. I'm not sure whether its a difference of mechanical skill or a difference in discipline though.

You have to remember that when Zenon asked HotShotGG that he was definitely implying that the Asian gamers were the ones that were inferior. I think a lot of this comes down to the fact that there hasn't been much of an asian presence in competitive LOL yet. They are here now and we are going to see just how good they are. And you would have to think there are other good asian teams that didn't get into this tournament but are at that same level of play. I can't wait until someone hosts a massive tournament with 16 teams or something crazy.

well this is going to suck, slasher has bragging rights.
ps. grats to WE for winning!

zzz everytime top team losses people are like "meta is failing", last game was lost for 1 reason. HotshotGG overconfidence into handling taric vayne bot. 2nd game was lost because orianna feed annie to much, and she was able to burst down everybody.............

If it doesn't, then Riot is poised to control the MOBA market there with LoL, and LoL will rise in Dota's place. The great thing is that Riot is involving the Chinese companies directly in their expansion to China. Tencent is a huge company in China specialising in social networking and it pretty much monopolises the instant messaging/quasi-facebook/quasi-twitter/blogging/flash minigame markets in China. That gives Riot huge market penetration. Say whatever you want about their game design and balance, but their overall business decisions have been amazing since Riot's foundation.

Hotshot got favorable heroes in games one and two. Chauster, disregarding his poor play, was out-picked against Vayne and Taric in game two. Elementz gave Vayne first blood as well. Jiji's been playing somewhat poorly from behind.

I almost feel like I'm talking about BW here, but if the top Chinese Dota players ever make the switch to LoL, I think there's going to be a real eye-opener for those who thought less of Asian MOBA.

2nd game was lost because CLG didnt call any misses the early game. 3rd game was lost because they didnt ban vayne while picking kennen vs singed
it could work, but in the end singed will get creepwaves and kennen then gets sorta meh

I realised I didn't explain the lane match-ups in my post, but my point was that apart from HotshotGG receiving favourable lanes and managing to deny his lane opponent, the Chinese players generally outfarmed their counterparts throughout the tournament. Candy Panda was an exception, if I recall correctly, though. That guy is a farming god.

Dota 1 is not dying in China at all. The 6 million dollar purchase was basically buying the dota 1 team in essence.
But yea LoL has been doing all the right things in term of business decision. It depends on who Valve will partner with in distributing Dota 2 imo that will determine the success of dota 2 in China.
I see all 3 games as the top 3 esport titles for quite sometime.
