Thanks to Reddit sleuths, everyone can try the LotV test maps by following instructions here. Note: This is not a beta key, it is simply access to Vs. AI and a Unit Tester. I have no idea how cool with this Blizzard is or is not, use at your own risk. |

I don't think it should be good at all of those things. So basically it's another version of the warhound. A massable unit designed to be good at everything with no real weakness, which was scrapped because, it's a massable unit designed to be good at everything with no real weakness. Sadly a good summary. I'm pretty sure something called cyclone will make it to the final game because T just won't take another Warhound removal, but that something won't look like what we've got atm at all.
Blizzard time and time again has failed on design on so many levels in SC2. It's all been done. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've just noticed disruptors do friendly damage. So you can't use them vs melee units if they're near your units.

According to reddit the Colossus range is 8 with thermal lance and the damage is down from 15 to 12. I remember seeing the range nerf but not that damage nerf.
is there a cost decrease? Is thermal lance +2 range now, or is the base range lower?
That's a huge nerf. If you go colossus first and terran hits you with +1 armor, that's 12 hits to kill a marauder instead of 9, while being much more vulnerable because of lower range and speed

Sure you can, you just have to control them properly. They're obviously bad when there's only a few zerglings, but even with pure melee unit vs melee unit they should be useful in combat past small scale.
Psi storm is extremely powerful against any kind of ground army and it has friendly fire too. You wouldn't attack with lings into a guy who had 50 zealots and 10 high templar, it would be a massacre

Zerglings with the new 40% atk speed upgrade are amazing, me gusta. the brood war in me is crying tears of joy...ANYONE IN GOLD NA, YOU'RE FUCKED We'll be seeing numerous cracklings on ladder. meh my ZvZ was shit anyway so that's nothing new

Am I right in thinking the beta will be out in 3 hours?

Probably not, Blizzard is on the west coast and they'll probably release while they're at work, not at midnight.

Tried that thing for a minute haha, it seems really cost efficient.

Yesterday on Jakatak's stream, I can't remember the real numbers but ~Cyclones killed ~7 Colossi on a-click without even being microed. I maybe got the numbers wrong but Jakatak was impressed with it, they really deal enormous amount of damage when locked-on.

A unit that is good against everything?

It's basically a Factory Marine then.

To be fair, the war hound didn't have splash either.
I'd like to see how it works in real games but my guess is that it's going to be very strong, it's very well rounded, as I think was the design intent but the lock on ability seem like a better fit for a unit that's more of a glass canon.
It seems to have some decent counters on the Z and maybe even P side the way it interacts with mobility but often the best thing to do when it locks on is to run away and the cooldown doesn't give enough time to capitalize on that. For TvT it just seems to kill anything that isn't a battlecruiser supply for supply, seeing it lock onto a tank then run out of siege range pelting it down despite svc's repairing the tank is a little depressing.

I'm just joking :D Maybe blizzard wants to add a well rounded factory unit, analogue to marines? To be fair I have no idea how Blizzard comes up with these ideas for units. It seems they just come up with random stuff instead of actually analyzing what each race needs.
