Thanks to Reddit sleuths, everyone can try the LotV test maps by following instructions here.

Note: This is not a beta key, it is simply access to Vs. AI and a Unit Tester. I have no idea how cool with this Blizzard is or is not, use at your own risk.

So at this point Terran gets a new unit and siege tanks that can be lifted in siege mode and a buff to a unit that will see action in 2% of games?

Blizzard, how about you look at:
1)Ghosts not being trash in 2/3MUs.
2)Give the WMs some real synergy with mech instead of being a mini siege tank for bio play.
3)Give the reaper a role beyond the 3 min mark.

Meh a regular Dota 2 patch tripples the size of these patch notes. It's like 3 people are working on this and one of them is in charge of PR.

I'm hoping terran gets science vessels, with the abilities appropriately nerfed to account for smart cast, and vultures. Bio has a lategame spellcaster that's gas heavy and serves as more than simply an anti caster. Vultures to give mech mobility, map control and more aggressive pushes sub 150 supply.

But not at Blizzcon, only a month ago during their last update. And the video was referring to the earliest reveals at Blizzcon, not the later progress updates.

Having a longer beta to flesh out ideas is AMAZING news. Should be fun with the upcoming version of SC2 ala LotV.

be sure to have the "starcraft 2" checkbox in your beta options (bnet profile) checked. the first waves will only go out to pros, big streamers and games media. normal users will be added as the beta goes on.

The cost for a Nydus + Worm is 250/300, which is really nothing. For comparison's sake, it's significantly less to Nydus your whole army in than it costs for a Protoss to build a single Void Ray. It also builds extraordinarily fast and costs no supply.

All of that said, I agree that failsafe ways to do damage are poor game design decisions. I feel like fully scouting something and having the tech to stop it yet still taking some amount of damage anyways (like a Widow Mine drop opener - it's not IF you're going to lose probes, but if you're going to lose just 1-2 or your entire mineral line) is silly.

To take it even further, I think that drops and harassment are already too good, and adding more into the game is awful. Mutalisks wrecking bases and healing too fast, Terran doom drops with Medivacs that boost for nothing, Warp Prisms warping in a dozen gateway units at once - enough already. Skirmishes and smaller fights around the map should be what LotV focuses on, not more ways to give droppers or harassers the advantage over defenders, which they already have too much of.




So much this last bit. Why is blizzard so hell-bent on making cliffs nothing more than scenery? With the economy changes people will have to spread out around the map more anyway, being able to lift your entire army into your opponent's main for free won't encourage multi-tasking, it will just be super frustrating.


Wholeheartedly agree. Harass options are already super strong, and what LotV needs to do is discourage deathball play, which is done in many good ways already. Enhancing harass options will only lead to frustrating games.

it also resembles a unit that was cut during WoL indev that i think also had a chain lightning auto attack if i remember correctly.

I'm not sure why everyone's saying the new nydus is free damage. If you get a full surround, no units come out, you lose mining time but that's better than losing units and it's not as much damage as the Zerg would have wanted to achieve I reckon.
