I think Garen's problem is that he has this very passive style where he often wants to slow things down and use his passive to regenerate a bit of health. I think Garen needs a partial reset on his passive on his Q and/or W to make his laning phase a bit more active instead of just pressing Q and charging at people. | ||

It is kind of awkward to be like "Yo hold on team, I need to get my passive." But that would be my only gripe. As far as immoble bruisers go, he is the one I'd rather have at the 15 minute mark and on over pretty much anyone else. Trouble is, lots of players can't play champions without a jump because so many of the champs now a days do. I mean, Its definitely a handicap, but I think he can overcome it just by how absolutely awesome his W Steroid is. He gets so incredibly tanky with just a couple items and combined with his R execute means he doesn't get to the "irrelevant because absolutely 0 damage" state like a lot of tanks do when they overly tanky. He can have like Banshees + Sunfire + Aegis + Offensive items and be the tankiest champion in the game while the Tank line on the other team has the same gold and all defensive items. Means he can like dive, chase an AD carry out of a fight while tanking a team with his two Defensive items giving him 3k HP, 200 MR+Armor because of the extra 20% damage mitigation from items and the flat 6 second 30% damage reduction on all damage post damage mitigation screen while his team cleans up. All the while he does consistent AoE damage, has a huge damage execute, and peels pretty well with his rather large Silence and movespeed boost. Garen is fine imo. Just different than before. Before he was a win lane lose game champ, now he is a lose lane win game champ. | ||

They might also take out the passive DoT and the passive penetration from E. Before he was a win lane lose game champ, now he is a lose lane win game champ. Yes but he loses lane way too hard, because he is unusually sensitive against pokes and particularly DoTs. You have to be absolutely retarded to lose lane against a Garen as Teemo, Pantheon, Nidalee, or Darius (well Garen can actually win against Teemo but the other three are nightmares). You can literally walk into lane as Garen with the expectation that you will get 0 CS unless the wave is pushed toward your tower. I don't think there exists harder match ups in the entire game. I think his passive needs a bit of help so he can at least reasonably lane against the champions above - he will still suck against them, but hopefully not in an overwhelmingly lopsided way. | ||

But the viability of a specific set of theoretical circumstances vs the reality of most games seems pretty disconnected to me. | ||

Feels pretty strong, I've just managed to win 4v5 game where our mid Xerath fed 2 kills to Ahri and ragequitted at level 4, we still won, cause Soraka stronk as fck. | ||
