You don't get the "you've been reported recently" pop-up for the game you've just finished, but when you've been reported multiple times over multiple games recently. Riot wouldn't tell you "one of these 9 guys in your previous game reported you, he probably told you so in chat, go ahead and harass him."

About the "just get thicker skin", there are probably situations/stuff that irks them too, simply not in LoL. Well others can be aggravated by being insulted online, acting mighty about how you aren't as affected won't change much about the situation.
On the other hand, Riot is a company. Remember? It's in their interest that people keep playing the game. Turns out a large part of the player base doesn't enjoy being cursed at, and it acts as a deterrent to them logging on more often, or at all.
So.
Do you expect Riot to sigh like you do, tell them they should get thicker skin, and berate them?
Or do you expect Riot to try and make the environment more bearable so people play more?

Pretty much this. I think reporting people for cursing or yelling at someone is stupied I feel people do need thicker skin and need to stop being such little bitches but from riots POV they are running a bussiness and banning ppl serves a duel purpose it keeps the people who's feeling get hurt to easy from quitting the game and they make money of people who have to start new accounts losing all the things they spent rp on.

This is the attitude that bothers me, and usually it comes from the people who're most likely toxic.

It isn't a matter of "people's feelings getting hurt". That's a great way to phrase things, if you're the type of person who refers to other people as "little bitches" at any given opportunity.

Let's put it this way -- when you're on a train, or a bus, or an airplane, and there's some obnoxious kid running around, demanding attention, being loud: is anyone's feelings being hurt?

No.

But do we want someone to shut the kid up and put him in his seat for the comfort of us all?

Yes.

I applaud Riot in every step it takes towards addressing the toxicity of its players. Some MOBA gamers can be the rudest people imaginable. It makes the game less enjoyable for a lot of people. If you want to call people you don't even know "little bitches", then go to 4chan or whatever other hellhole caters to the anonymity-abusers -- don't bring it into a game where 9 other people are involved who're all most likely trying to relax with what little freedom they have in the day.

I choose to tell him to shut up or tell his parent to shut there kid up what I don't do is go file a complaint. Maybe it's just being from NYC where people don't have a filter when it comes to expressing our opinion. But when someone does or says stupied shit I let them know how I feel. Mind you I have never been banned or chat restricted in the year and half I have played this game. If someone is mindless spaming stuff that annoys you mute them who cares, problem solved. If I got 0/5 in lane and someone tells me I am fucking terrible over and over I am not gonna report them what's the point. The only thing riot needs is a mute button leave buster and intentional feeding detection and the abilty to restart a game if I player fails to load in first 2 mins. Anything else is just an excuse to make weak minded people like you feel better

I shouldn't have to mute my teammates in a game based on team communication.

I never ever mute people, because if someone is being toxic, i need to know what that person is saying, in order to help convince whoever he's flaming to keep playing and ignore him, before he also becomes toxic. I agree with with that person who says he opts to mind his feelings whenever someone is calling out shit. Because generally they call out shit without even knowing why the fuck they're doing it, they just flame because of hunger/anger/depression/retardation etc. etc.

1 is good 2 is bad, and i always aim to be the most toxic person on my team.

This is also what made fgc so fun to watch was the amount of shit talking, flaming, and general unpleasantness.
Hell, that's what makes the internet funny as hell. The continual policing of behaviour in games have led to less fun.

That being said, it's understandable why Riot has taken this stance, especially since it's trying so hard to bring LoL to the public.

Shit talking across teams is fun. Because they're the enemy and its fun to both hate them and be hated. You either get to play the hero if they're shit talking or play the villain if you are. Both of these things are fun and can help create a swift team dynamic(E.G. why are drill instructors asses to everyone? A: Because the group forms faster with a shared enemy/goal). But this isn't true of shit talking to your team. They're supposed to be your team, your team is like your tribe, it doesn't matter if they fuck up they're still your god damned tribe so they're obviously better than those other fuckers on blue side. That is until they don't have that same attitude. Then things change.

Anecdata time:

1) I used to play EVE and was in Goonswarm. A large part of the Goonswarm identity was that you sucked. Everyone sucked. Sucking was what it meant to be a goon, the largest bunch of sucks to ever suck. Except of course whomever we were fighting they sucked harder. There was a constant derision but it was very much part of the tribal identity. And being in a tribe, having clear goals and enemies was fun. Being a goon meant you were playing the villain, and so we were a group of villains. And everyone knew that and knew how terrible and mean they were and that was great because you got to be terrible and mean together, in one big vicious family.

But you can't develop a dynamic like that out of thin air. Part if it is pruning; it doesn't work when some people aren't in on the tribal identity, those people must be removed from the tribe. Part of it is changing or establishing the identity and getting people to go along with it, people typically respond to negativeness with "othering" the person who was negative and that has to be reversed.

2) So back in college one of my elective classes was a group psychology course. And for a project we decided to see how fast we could create a positive and negative team dynamics. We split the class(who was not in on the project) into two groups and played kickball. One team captain was an ass to his team and one team captain wasn't. Its not a surprise that the team whose captain was an ass lost the game. Despite having what would otherwise be the physical advantage (picking first). Basically its possible to quickly establish or destroy team cohesiveness and team cohesiveness plays a large part in how you function in a group.

The continual policing of behavior in games has led to more fun. A lot more fun. Because it fucking sucks when you're stuck with a dude on your team who isn't part of your tribe. If league were a game where you could kick him out of your tribe, a game like Planetside or EVE then no big deal, your tribe remains your tribe and they can go find another tribe to be a part of that fits their needs.

But League isn't like that. You're stuck with them until you're forced to make a new tribe 40 minutes later. This means that the identity of a team in a league game has to form very quickly. There is no time to flip what seem like mean spirited comments into positive ones. There are no alternative tribes to choose from. You're either stuck or you leave and ruin the game for 8 other people.

I mean really it comes down to this; Teams which don't have team cohesiveness lose more than those that do. And players on teams without cohesiveness have less fun than those which do. The easiest way to form cohesiveness fast in a group you can't change is with positiveness and the easiest way to break it is with negativeness. And if you think that being a dick doesn't effect the game or your team mates then you're a bad person and should feel bad and frankly I don't want to play games with you. You're not in my tribe, get the fuck out.

Fake edit: if i've made any mistakes the psychologist can correct me. Take his word for it not mine.

Team chemistry is an interesting concept in full premade 5v5 team games, but in matchmaking the simple fact is that acceptable behavior is always going to be defined by the majority so that the atmosphere can be maintained at the most enjoyable level for the most amount of people. And, as was said, that is overwhelmingly skewed toward positivity. There may exist a team that defines itself as a negative entity and feeds off trash talk and criticism but they are all in agreement with this concept and it has developed over time. Unfortunately, you are afforded only text communication in a limited time frame to establish a team atmosphere, so this simply isn't viable or acceptable for a match made team.

What. IE's passive by itself increases your auto-attack dps by 37.5%, and they both provide the same amount of AD. Even if Graves deals relatively less of his damage through autoattacks, IE still crushes BT super hard.

1st item timing isn't that big of a deal inbetween them, they both offer different but just as good passives on single item timing. BT gives you tankiness through lifesteal and shield, IE gives you dem damages.

In my opinion, there are two ways to be good/high-ranked at this game. One is to legitimately be super good mechanically. The other is to understand the psychology of players.

I'm the second kind.

psychologically speaking, what's the most effective way to get an ap "support" on your team to buy a sightstone instead of rushing for a 30min rod of ages?

I honestly think that a smaller amount of individuals are ragers/afkers/trolls/feeders than we think. I have many good games in solo queue where I'm like, YEAH, you guys are awesome! and we all have a great mentality towards the game, even when we're losing. I just remember the ones that make me mad because they have more emotional valence and are more readily encoded into my long-term memory stores.

I would say that the majority of people playing this game just want to play nicely and have a good time. That majority might only be 60%, but it's more than half...

Somehow find out where they live, go to their place, knock them out with Chloroform, hope they didn't log out and buy a sightstone on their still running pc.
