Its not even that the item itself is bad, its just that the design is stupid. If Quill built into not the tanky jungle item, it would be great. Thing is, only junglers that want Quill are the ones that clear through the virtue of their abilities, and the fact that Quill has no damage amping, and Spirit Stone does, it is just absolute Garbage, because very rarely is it not better to just get the Spirit Stone item and just have twice as much farm. And the Junglers that needed that early game tankiness are kind of left out in the void of suck. Sejuani is a good example; she has always been a weak duelist early game, relied poretty heavily on teammates to ensure all her important stuff wasn't stolen. Obviously, in Soloqueue relying on your teammates map awareness is... less than a great plan. Before it used to be alright because even though you seceded a huge amount of map pressure and lost buffs, you could usually farm well enough to be a factor. But the Nerf in clear going from Spirit stone to Quill hurts a lot. You can't really recover or stay a-float while you are getting hard invaded anymore, you just kind of sink and get taken out of a game (probably lose too) what would have been a very manageable situation before. Its not just the early game Quill hurts, it the recovery from having a poor early game that it hurts, which is a rather poor combination.

Hard to get close to him without getting zapped and its hard to run away from him without getting also zapped.

Say hypothetically Riot could get a fully working spectator client tomorrow (similar to DotaTV) would they actually implement it? I think they like having the #1 spot on Twitch as it probably gives them better numbers to show to sponsors. If you look at the fraction of people who use DotaTV vs. watch streams, Riot's top dog spot on Twitch would not be remotely jeopardized by people spectating in-client.

The reason why we can't spectate tournament games is because they're either password-protected custom games or on the tournament client. Tourney client is used since live servers have potential stability/ddos problems.

I do/would, for multiple reasons: 1) I like being able to control the camera and look at things that are going on outside of one player's perspective. 2) Sometimes I just wanna watch a game instead of listening to qtpie talk about why "MF's ult is completely useless". 3) Being able to check gold/CS/items/hp/levels when I want to is important to me. 4) Seeing both teams at the same time is quite nice for studying timings (mainly for junglers but I mean it's always more fun to watch a game where you know what's happening on both sides IMO). 5) Pause/rewind is pretty nice even if I only use it once every 100 games. 6) Convenience. No ads and no logins and none of that 3rd party website extra stuff. I can do it all from the client and it's right there. I rarely ever take the time to look up a specific player's stream and log in and wait a 30 second ad out to watch them play. I occasionally spectate interesting looking games or players I know in the client, though. Oh, perhaps I misunderstood, though. Are you talking about a separate client that's NOT LoL to watch stuff?

I'd like to echo these sentiments. Having an in client spectator mode is really convenient and I find it a great addition. If anything it should be expanded. A couple more reasons: Sometimes you want a league fix, but you just got smashed in a ranked game and don't feel like playing. Sit back and watch some games right there. Perfect quality with no annoying lag. Very important as an Australian with our terrible internet.

Right now I've won 15 of my last 20 but my MMR gains are still pretty shitty. It's around +16/-20. What gives? If you're going by op.gg, and this is if I'm understanding i correctly, it estimates your MMR, then estimates your opponents MMR. Then it compares the scores and gives you an MMR relative to your opponents instead of and MMR relative to the entire ladder. Therefore, if your overall MMR improves, but the skill of your opponents remains the same relative to yourself, you won't see as big a jump. There's no real way to see your MMR aside from having a friend from Riot tell you. Every other service is just an estimation based on their best guess at the MMR algorithm which takes into account the people you're queued against. It's most likely just a guess. Basically yeah, you can have 10000000000000 MMR but if you queue into a game that has four 200 MMR players on your team and five 250 players on their team, these services will estimate you around 200-250 MMR. It's not the most accurate assessment. That's the point in it being invisible, though.

There is no spectator chat when you're spectating with other people + you can spectate one of 5 games that are listed on clients main page or people that you have on your friends list. In DotA you can search anyone that is online and is currently playing and spectate it.
