On mid/top Hecarim, Keane seems to generally go Triforce/brutalizer/maw/frozen heart/SV. He goes lucidity boots or merc treads and often seems to rush homeguards.

Haha, my friend is just returning from SK teaching english tonight, he just messaged me on facebook saying he was standing in line at the airport with "an NA LoL team, Dexter, Link, and Double fit", and asking if I knew of them.

Hecarim is such a huge experience and farm hog though, his base stats aren't that bad but his kit scales so much off of his ability to tank the initial burst and get enough EHP out of W to then remain in the fight (with no CDR it takes something like 8s for his Q to ramp up, it goes down to 4-5s with max CDR).
On paper the nerfs made him better pre-10 than before since he got more healing from W, but the longer cooldown really constrain him to teamfights over skirmishes, and lengthy ones he won't have the tankiness to survive to unless his team has tools to protect him (it also works if the team just bursts the enemy but then Hecarim doesn't provide much apart from his E, since he's got no burst and his ult is on such a long cd).

I wonder how it works mid, he can't farm at range, his healing is capped on minions with a huge cd, and his E is somewhat telegraphed. Doesn't he just eat harass over and over and over again till he gets shoved out of lane, since his gank assist is meh pre-6? At least he gets more exp/farm than from the jungle.

for some reason amumu seems to be my 'carry' champion in low elo. I don't even own him on my main account in NA but I have ridiculously good KDA on him and win pretty much every game I play him. I have a much harder time winning on other champions for god knows why. I just build full AP, catch someone and 1 shot him lol.

I've carried out of gold with riven, trynd, gangplank, mordekaiser, you name it. It's more about decisionmaking to get out of gold than mechanics or kit imo.

Yeah AP Amumu jungle = free elo ride, once you get a couple of kills and managed to land some good ults you end up raping enemy team 1v5.

Yeah in gold the best way to win is to just be in the right place and if you're actually better than those you're playing with the plays will come to you. You have to work a lot harder in bronze and silver to get what you want to happen (or just be really lucky because you can't count on where they go/what they do to make any sense) but once you hit gold and make it into plat people are finally understanding stuff that generally makes sense and then it's your job to outplay them. It's like the CoL line of thinking in bronze/silver, how can you beat that which you can't plan for?

In bronze/silver people cannot CS for the life of them and will drop anything for something more interesting than watching their champ autoattacking lane minions, so just spam ping dragons and barons (they are never warded anyway) and win off the global gold.

the funny thing is that amumu works in diamond 1 too, there are just a lot less people playing him (because everyone wants to play lee or vi or elise or j4 etc.) but when a good mumu shows up he murders absolutely everyone
