[Patch 4.9] RIP Kha'Zix General Discussion - Page 107
Forum Index > LoL General |
Alright, we're going to call it a day with all the Thorin drama, guys. I figured if it was about SI, onGamers, TSM, etc, it had some relevance to League but somehow you guys managed to devolve the discussion into an issue about race of all things. Enough is enough. Let's move along now. -NeoIllusions

It's not like they're Blizzard, who's been around the block. Dealt with Europe, eh? After the EU split, how many people actually went to EUNE? How many of them said "Fuck no, I have friends on EUW, I'm staying there!"?

Its not like Riot is new to the game. You can't play that card anymore. An interweb based business that can't be used is a business that can't grow, infact it is a business that dies. Scratch that, any business that can't forecast dies. A multimillion dollar multinational corporation frankly should be better than that. They deserve heat for this. You never saw Google struggle with server size. It literally has never been an issue because they hired a competent staff that could look at a usage chart and say "hmm, at our current exponential growth rate, we are going to need to upgrade by X or we are fucked." I think google has only ever been down once. Same with Amazon. Same with Ebay. Same with WoW. Yahoo on the other hand... When is the last time any of you used yahoo?

I've seen WoW down more than a few times. Yahoo? I stopped using Yahoo for reasons other than uptime.

So your saying Riot shouldn't receive any heat for their servers crapping out every day for hours at a time (sometimes twice a day) then throttling people trying to log on so that logging on after the servers come come back online it takes another 30 minutes to log on? You think that is acceptable from a company with the scope and scale of Riot?

A bit off survivorship bias, but others like eq, eve, and healthcare.org all have had hilariously bad problems.

You think that is acceptable from a company with the scope and scale of Riot? I don't run the most popular game in the world. I don't know what realistically can be done. When dealing with computers, it's almost always more complicated that it appears. Therefore I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Do you know what would happen if a server came back up and the logins weren't throttled? Everybody would try to log in at once and the server would go down again. That's why lines exist in the real world.

I think playing on Latin America North while NA is down or laggy as crap would be the best move and it's easy to sign up but granted it's in spanish so it might take some time to get used to but it should be worth it. you can make it stay in English, just make sure your locale.cfg (RADS folder) is set on en_US instead of es_mx and set the file as read only.

The only problems I've been having is these tiny short lag bursts where I hit a minion and it takes like 1 second for it to register and my character sometimes freaks out then just moon walks back into normal place. I haven't been disconnected yet.

It's usually bugs and things out of your control that cause these downtimes and lag spikes.
