I don't think they nerfed Spirit Visage properly. Everyone will still buy it because there's no real alternative for MR, now they'll just have 10% less CDR.
What the should have done is removed Ruby Crystal from Cowl recipe and replaced it with a Bead (the item gives regen after all), and reduce Spirit Visage health and price by an analogous amount.
400 health + 55 MR from one item is just too brutal vs APs.

For competitive, it will bring out more 2v2s which isn't too bad.
I'm not sure people are worried about the intended result so much as the hamfisted fuckery they employed to get there.

Vayne's in a worse position than Kog in the current bot lane meta (or would be if she wasn't still so popular against all the terrible matchups she has). Both are in a pretty bad position with current picks.
Trist is better than both, but Jinx is most popular late game hyper(ish) carry.

Veil will be better (first MR item) if you don't rely on any healing.
I kinda like the nerf to Sunfire, because now you have to choose between EHP from Randuin or more damage from Sunfire. It'll become something that you might buy if you're ahead and need the extra damage to kill or to push waves, rather than the go-to tank item on anyone.

People like Jinx because she doesn't have a terrible dip/weak point like Kog/Trist. Also, I think Vayne is picked for a different reasons than those 2. In particular, while they all like to be able to freefarm, Vayne is actually really good at freefarming, because if they send just 1 person, that person will probably die to Vayne.

As a duelist she's still among the best of the ADCs though there are good/better ones without her glaring weaknesses.
But her lane phase, good grief. tfw you get a first pick Vaynes that then go up against a Caitlyn/Thresh lane and complains about it.
I mean seriously. Seriously.

Hey they changed the Flash icon again.
Looks better now.

I can't see Veil ever being a top choice for front liners (the only champions who will be buying an item like that early in the game) because the shield is useless when you are always in front. There are too many things that can randomly pop it off for it to ever block a spell you actually want to block.
The regen on it might be better than I think though.

Oh hey they did.
It actually looks like you're flashing. also ghost
Also, they changed health pots/mana pots. Finally updated the icons!

I hope when they rework PD and Shiv to be more distinct they remove Avarice from the recipe just like the other gold items. Avarice should be reworked into an AD item that increases gold from monsters and made only to build into Wriggles (madreds+avarice). Then they can re-balance that shit into something useful.
And where are the Rune changes they've been talking about!

Rune changes saved for S5 I bet.

So, having now tested this new spirit stone, it's waaaay more regen.
Mana problems on Sejuani now completely nonexistant. Can Q every camp.
However, interestingly if you try to take lane farm with skills your mana goes down fast.

Wow, just finished reading the patch notes and that turret change is extremely ugly. Like, really? Couldn't they even try to make it seem like a general change... It makes no sense logic-wise why top and middle turrets would for some reason take less damage than bottom turret, and did they even consider the effect this has on pusher vs roamer in midlane for example, where now you take far longer killing the mid turret when the enemy goes roaming?
|
Thought experiment: if Runes weren't divided into types with specialties (i.e. Marks are only good for AD stats or Penetration, etc) and you simply had 30 slots into which you could place runes of any types (pretend no Quints for now), what would that do? Would everyone just run mad cheese pages like 30x AP/AD or 30x Armor? I think you might actually see an interesting mix of stats.
The present system where certain runes are far and beyond the best-in-slot greatly reduces any real specialization, as it is now the only real choices are what Quintessences to run and whether to take AD or ArPen (p.s. which is better lol). Armor Yellows and MR Blues are pretty much non-negotiable, which is boring.

I think your last point is not true, since Turrets lost armor but gained a resistance to champion autos. So potshots on the tower when the enemy is there will take much longer to kill it, but if your enemy leaves and you push to tower with a full wave I think it might actually die faster.

also massively limits champs you can pick for top laner to some tank that's good at 1v2 While I don't disagree, I think it's wrong for Riot to see trying to kill 1v2 as the only solution to this issue. There are a lot of cleaner systemic changes that could be done to make 1v2 safer and more interactive for the 1v2 laner.
Since 1v2 became a thing I've been expecting that Riot would probably not explore those options though.

except the incentive to camp bot now that there is the easiest tower/dragon to get if you get a successful gank.
