Edit: Also what is that site that shows OGN runes/masteries? Curious if he's using lifesteal quints. Riven in jungle is mostly there to be a tanky frontline distrupter, not really damage dealer. Mostly used for her short cd stun and knockups.

As far as unconventional supports go, how does Jarvan perform?
Is he a decent unconventional support or should I not bother?
And before you say "You should play a real support" I'm just looking for a champion that I can play in normals or something in the support role without actually being a support.
I just don't find supports that fun to play.
Also if you guys have suggestions for other supports who aren't classified as supports I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance!

I have tried. It neither caused me to carry, or feed, I kinda just "existed" in the 3 to 5 games I tried it. From what I experienced people are much less afraid of the ball if you can't hurt them. I kinda felt like a worse Annie or Zyra (closer to Zyra, who I still love), but definitely not as bad as the Nidalee "supports" you sometimes see.

That's too bad. I'm a shit mid and I need to use my TPA skin.

Just try it out, it's decent and ult is still gamechanging cc if you hit 3+ people and bonus mr/armor from comman protect is nice. As long as Annie as banned a lot of things work in a duo lane.

KTB also put kakao on riven vs CJB, it actually does work pretty well with the CDR heavy jungle builds kakao was pretty key in making some picks with his ability spam. ActScene also near single handedly carried Jin Air with jungle riven, but that more an outlier of him getting massive and being a god for that one game.

Thanks in advance! J4 is fine if you play double bruiser bot and split farm. The problem with support j4 with adc is he falls off heavily. He's extremely item reliant to be tanky. His only defensive steroid is very weak, so past the 10 minute mark he's gunna get blown the fuck up.

I think Vi's the best partner for Yasuo. You just hear that ult noise, mash R and then go for a ride.
Had a fed Lee + Vi + Yasuo combo... still feel bad for that Jinx.

i think a problem with ori is that if you're using the ball to "ward" then you're not using it to threaten the other laners

It's not like you need to leave it in there when they aren't trying to get bush control. I think Ori is at least worth consideration given increased support items based around Talisman/chalice/sightstone.
But you're right, you're fighting with Zyra pretty heavily in the "what I do as a support" department. The shield really has to be the thing to set you apart, but it's not an instant shield so it can be difficult to use it reactively.

I think it would work better if the AP support item was less terrible as well. Its really hard to have no AP and no CDR in your first 2 (assuming you buy a SS, and you should) slots.
Like, if FF generated as much gold as coin, and they made its active into a ground-targeted-aoe-slow about the size of Anivia ult, then we would have something.

I was kinda thinking of Ori as a support that would be similar to Karma. Obviously Karma wins HARD in the peel/engage/disengage department, but Ori has some of the same strengths as well as the big Shockwave CC. I definitely wanna try it now, especially with how viable Karma suddenly became with the new gold.

there is such a wide variety of good supports atm to say "I don't find any supports fun to play" is covering too much territory to be anything other than being short sighted on the issue.
I'd put j4 on the lower half of the entire cast for supporting.

I'd put j4 on the lower half of the entire cast for supporting. Pretty much everyone who says that just dislikes buying wards and not farming.

Until I first played Annie support I was all "Eh, can't be THAT interesting. Seems w/e." I knew it was strong, but I didn't think it would be THAT fun.
They I played it.
Holy crap, so fun. Fireballs and pandas 5ever

It's like the people in soloQ who say they don't want to support because they're "not good at the role".
Also Thresh is so overpowered with such an interesting kit I don't know how someone can play him and not find it fun.

ok to be fair for a moment, what about j4 interests you?
EQ combo? Try Leona his ult? Try Leona Armor Shred? Try Taric Doing the sick damage as support? Play Annie. "I want to do the e>q combo into ult even though this is certian death on j4 with support gold"? Play Thresh
unfortunately as far as unconventional goes (if you want to insist) the vast majority of the good unconventional supports aren't going to be melee you need to be able to do something pretty special once you get in to make up for being a guy with half the gold of the guy he's in melee range with. (which is what makes support j4 ult so incredibly bad, and why I'd say he's bottom half of the entire cast if not bottom quarter)
if you really had your heart set on Jarvan probably the closest thing I can think of that could actually be useful after lvls 1-5 lane phase would be support wu kong, I mean it's still not going to be great, and your lane mate has to be hella aggro to make it work (same as j4 really) but with his passive sightstone + Relic shield + Black cleaver wu kong wouldn't be useless in team fights, I mean you'll probably die but you'll set your carries up to do some damage before you do.

Now he is a lane bully (but can get behind) that doesn't scale as well as some of the other supports out there. Still very good, but not king.
