That's just my reasoning though. I'm not an expert on the jungle. I don't see anything new in S4 that changes what made nearly everyone go Ancient Golem in S3. Kha/Zed don't get played competitively but in solo queue you saw them pick up Elder Lizard. Eve is pretty much the only S3 jungler I've seen in competitive play that goes Elder Lizard still.

Eve relies a lot on her autos early game as her E gives her increased attack speed. Spirit of the Elder Lizard before the patch was already a core item for her as it gave her faster clear speeds, CDR and a boat load of damage.

Most Eve's built AP after the spirit of elder lizard as her AP scaling into the late game was pretty strong.

I feel she is so ridiculously strong after this patch, even OP - now with increased gold coming from the Spirit of the Elder Lizard (watched a few D1/Challenger Jungle streams and they were swimming in gold), combined with kills/assists/ganking snowballing the gold power curve. Not only this but any champs who use both do AP/AD damage (hybrid damage) got a buff as they combined the 6% Armor and Magic Penetration mastery into one.

Champs that have AP scaling with their kit and an AA steroid (Tristana, Shyv, Eve, etc.) are gonna be soooooooo strong this patch as it is going to make it extremely difficult to itemize against them throughout the game.

Yeah, but the 6% duel penetration costs 3 points instead of 1, so it's far less efficient than before. Not to mention it's pretty deep on the tree to boot.
