It's just a way of saying "I allow my opinions and actions to conform to what the terrible players around me want because that's the way you win", which examined without the obfuscation is clearly not a great philosophy. Even "bad" players caught on to Black Cleaver, Warmogs, and most recently Triforce. There is honestly nothing special about bronze, except the losing. Like if you took the Lolking endings from 50 Bronze, and 50 Challenger games I doubt most people could sort them correctly to more than a 60/40 split. While that is true, they also hold onto trends far after they have passed. Anybody's thoughts on an Urgot revival with all these assassin mids going around? Was watching a Turtle vlog and he brought him up in reference to Olaf's winrate. Figured Urgots "not die" might outweigh is soft carrying issues.
Ive never liked Urgot, so no comment(except that I find him to be a more-boring Ryze), but I agree that bad players keep playing ex-op things longer, but I also think part of that is that certain kinds of OP (AOE CC, and Single Target, non skillshot, Assassination, and resets are exceptionally powerful for less skilled players.

It might not be a good one, but it is the philosophy in Bronze. And I've found it's the best way to climb out of Bronze. Some people will flip out to the point where people leave in champ select if you don't ban Amumu, Shen, Malphite, and Blitzcrank. I personally find none of these champs particularly ban worthy, but I have to if I want a decent game. Even worse, sometimes they'll go into the game but be and idiot and first blood into the enemy Vayne on purpose. Then they'll do it again, and again, and again. The bottom line is people have certain expectations and if they aren't met it they react in a negative way that ruins the game experience. Don't get me wrong, I think it is crap too. And sure, sometimes you do get the team that goes "Oh you want to play Xerath support? Be my guest!". But sometimes the best thing to do is suck it up and go Zac jungle, even though you personally hate him. Keeping people happy, no matter how crap you think it is, will make them play better. That isn't at all in line with my experience. I've never been in bronze but I have played with friends at very low elos and in my experience people rage at absolutely nothing, whether you fuck up or not, so the supposed benefit of trying to get them not to is based on an illusion of control. Tell them to fuck off and that they should feel free to afk. They really don't get anything out of trying to mess with someone who displays complete contempt and disinterest in them so it really stops the whole "oooooh I'm gonna leave now" process short. Appeasement as a solo queue strategy is completely worthless, and you should maybe give the alternative a shot rather than just assuming being nice is helping you somehow.
I have actually tried both. When I first started playing, that's what I did. I didn't care and just let them rage. On occasion it worked brilliantly. Most times it backfired on me. I remember one game in particular where I banned something like Zed, Kassadin and Kennan. The enemy team picked Blitz, Malph and Amumu. Naturally I copped the abuse e.g. best bans NA, You're a fucking idiot etc etc etc. I just let them go and said I don't care, just play. So they did. Only they did ridiculous things. One guy went AP Riven (maybe he was the one that found that Zhonya's bug?). Now I'm all for and encourage experimentation, but there is a line and trying AP Riven is it. I've experienced things like this several times and after you get sick of crap games, you try something new.
It blows, it really does. I love Sivir, she is far and away my favourite ADC. I'd play her every time I have to ADC if people didn't lose their shit when I suggest it. People even cut loose when I pick her in an ideal situation (no dive on enemy team, lots of auto-attackers on ours). But if I switch over to my back up ADCs, Varus and Draven, all of a sudden, people are a lot more willing to play. My support is instantly in a better frame of mind.
Ultimately, I play ranked to win. I want the best experience possible. Trying to keep the rest of the team happy, even if it means doing something I hate is working for me and netting me more wins. I fully agree that it sucks I'd go as far to say it is a real blight on the LoL community, but like I said, sometimes it is for the best.
I've tried both ways (and sometimes I still do yours, because fuck it, I want to play Diana Jungle this game) and at the moment, keeping people happy is working. I think our experiences are different and we will have to agree to disagree.

Renekton is so strong right now holy crap. I know Rumble has been nerfed a lot but I thought that was a hard lane for renekton and I crushed him.

I usually go q>w>e on Riven, but I've been meaning to try e>w>q and play her like a tanky trynda, stacking crit and attackspeed only using q for mobility. Can't say if any good, but element of surprise should definitely be mine, and the dicking around factor is golden.
I mean if qtpie can carry with ad blitzcrank -_-

They wanted to rework Sivir's lore too, so they didn't only want to "update" her visuals like for Garen, but basically rewrite it and determine new visuals that go well with the new lore, etc. so it's more work, more changes, meaning more risk to disappoint players, hence why they took more time to do it.

Given that Riot just released this big video about how raging teams lose so much more I don't see how it's possible to argue that counter-raging at your team or causing your team to rage with what they consider a "troll pick" is the correct move from a playing to win standpoint. I mean it totally sucks for experimentation and all but angry teams just lose way more games and Bronze ranked players are trying so hard to win in all the wrong ways.
|
but you could easily argue that teams that rage are likely to be raging from an intentional troll, so their raging is nothing to do with their win chances, thats already ruined by the troll.
so if you followed that logic you could argue that raging has no impact on the outcome of the game.

I'm starting to think running Lissandra mid is bad. Her ranges are so short assassinating a target is nearly impossible unless it's a really immobile adc and even with free zhonyas+zhonyas if your team can't clean up after your combo then you just die. Maybe I'm just having a streak of bad games
Edit: I'm guilty of the sivir hate train in solo queue. I'm sorry. I just hate her and her 500 aa range with no repositioning tool

you must have a very interesting and unique opinion on why the very first ever made super hero who can do everything except under one weird circumstance where he can't do anything is a dumb super hero
of course, fear of "getting someone started" is mostly under the assumption that you're actually going the read the follow up posts HUEHUE

Hercules/Achilles and similiar were the first super heroes. Language of the people who created those even gave us the word "hero".
