Korea's a funny situation since they have five teams (Ozone, Frost, Blaze, SKT1, KTB), all of which are strong enough to compete and stand a good chance of winning worlds if they are the sole team at worlds but only three of them could've went.

I would've had the spring split points half as effective for every competitive season that's passed (Spring 2013 is 50% of summer 2013, winter 2012 is 25% of summer etc.) It rewards consistent performers but incentivizes winning the most recent season. It'd be difficult to beat out the #1/2 summer team without being a high performer in the summer season.

LoL has a very volatile scene. Teams rise and fall quick enough that any long term seeding can be very detrimental.
Im perfectly fine with the situation as it is now.

Just about to say this. I mean Sword might do alright but there are definitely stronger KR teams at the moment. Spring Playoffs might have just been for money/bragging rights, but at least it didn't give Coast a better chance to qualify for worlds than C9 (obviously due to their poor performance Coast wouldn't have made it anyway, but them having an advantage would have felt off)

If we went with the Chinese system, Coast would be one of 4 teams in the playoffs.

No they wouldn't, because the LPL system is top 2 from each split's Round Robin, with playoffs being irrelevant.

So the qualifier teams would be C9, Vulcun, TSM, Curse. Which is still the top 4 for this season anyway.

Taking first in a previous season should guarantee a playoff spot in the next season but not actually impact post-next-season standings/rewards.

LCS does this well-ish because top 2 avoid up/downs, but are hampered by the fact that the regular season and playoffs are so disjointed and that up/downs are freebies for most of the teams.

I think I am going to start a LoL "Sportscenter" style show here real soon. Would cover the recent results, show a couple clips, etc. Seems very hard to keep up at the moment with anything but one regions LCS and I know it's something I'd watch (the premise for any show I make).

Curious if there is any video production or graphics production fellows that would like to assist me in said endeavor? Would need someone to on graphics to make a couple overlay templates and a video guy to sew together some clips. Anyone on here with those skills interested?

I might be able to do some graphics/overlays for you if I have time. Just PM me with specifics, the more specific the better.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

I remember JP tried to do something similar with SC for a while, but I think it's a hard niche to fill. I'm not trying to dissuade you if you want to give it a shot. The people who are most interested in the results and things of that nature are already the ones who spend the most time watching streams and reading forums, so you're just going to tell them stuff they already know. And on the other side I don't see casual people being able to really get into it. It's a tough sell but I would like to see one done well.

I remember that, however E-Sports has changed so much since then, and in particular LoL has a scene very well set up for this type of show (iirc JP tried his in 2010 when everything was a mess structure wise). That and technology has changed and streaming programs suck a lot less.

I just know as someone who watches a lot of LoL, I still have no idea about 50%+ of the results for the major leagues as there is no centralized source of this info (sand Leaguepedia, but reading results off a static bracket page sucks).

It might suck or not be a big hit, but it's something that is sorely missing and I'd love to try. And being at the end of S3 would give me a good chance to try it out for a bit and see what sticks with the idea of getting it 100% by Season 4.

It's been a long time, but I remember JP's show being more of a "discussion" show and contained 0 video clips of play. This would be more of a "Results recap" show with very little open discussion (still would have some) and more focused on catching you up to speed on the last day's happenings.

It would be cool to somehow tie-in the TL writing crew...
Also get shake in there for his video editing skills + e-fame.

Favorite part of sportscenter is the Top Tens but that's already extensively covered in LoL.

Bjergsen's bitching that Rengar's bugged and can double proc his passive on w/q at the same moment.

I don't think Bjergsen's played the champ and is implying that Rengar can use an empowered q and w at the same time.

As a side note from a couple pages back. Thanks for taking the time to check that out Monte. Have my unopened card lying in a pile of mail still and would have left it that way otherwise. Now I guess it gets 20 bucks.

I've noticed he's gotten more popular, in games and from spectating.

Ahri is the champ that seems to be getting super popular as well, even to the point of getting to a little first pick/ban status.

In my opinion, a show like this would be very successfull, as long as you make a good job of keeping a simple, direct and precise train of tought.
As long as you get straight to the point and cut off the blablabla/fluff/shoutouts ect I'd be bery interested to watch this.
There has been atemps to do this in the past but I never sticked with any of those because they stretch the content too much. Some dude I don't remember the name had a very good production on it, nice overlays and clips but the videos were too long and like 10 minutes would pass with him talking nonstop but not saying anything.

edit: Rengar empowered Q W is bugged, Ninfang showed it on stream, it's hilarious how much burst that bug gives him.
Be nice, buy wards and don't feed double buff.

I agree, I think it makes a lot more sense for LoL. I dunno, you don't see it as much because in SC2 it only really a big deal during tournaments and such, which is odd and inconsistent... anyone that watching the tournament has seen anyway, and if not they will see while watching the tournament.

LoL However has way way way too much content to catch it all unless literally you spend your whole life doing so. Even if you watch all NA LCS, you will miss Korea/China/EU and vice versa. Other thing is there is a constan stream of new scheduled games. Constant.

I think such a show would work well, if it is marketed right. Probably require a lot of favours from decently popular communities members, a lot of whoring on reddit, and a rather consistant schedule of content as well, but I certainly think such a webshow could become popular.

I also think there is room for a Day9 style improvement show as well, but that is another thing entirely. LoL lacks the right personality for that... they all either pros already and have no time / don't want to help competitors or don't really know the game well enough. For example Studio tried to do the Day9 thing, but he didn't do as well because he wasn't near the quality of LoL player ( I think he was Diamond most of S1, S2) Day9 was to BW, and I think not as much of the LoL community is as keen on self-improvement.

I don't know if we'll have that quality player until we start seeing a lot of retirements of the current generation of pros, and one of them who is also webshow-savvy (not just streaming) decides to step up to the platform for it.

Remember in the BW days, Day9 was Pretty Good(tm).

This is a well known bug among Rengar players. It's been around for months. I don't know it, but there's a lot of planning that can go into Rengar's burst.

Dekar says he teaches it to people on the first lesson of coaching them.

Monte was the closest thing we had to day9 imo.
Real hard to get popular though and now he has RL obligations.

(Maybe Studio but I don't count him)

Wow, this whole universal Ranked Borders thing created a crazy team-selling market.

Step 1) Take 5 players (Team A) and form a newly minted team. This team will play somewhere between 5-10 games and obtain gold, because they are Plat or whatever.

Step 2) Invite 5 new players to the team, and remove the first 5 players. You now have Team B. Team B is presumably significantly lower than gold, and would not be able to obtain it on their own.

Step 3) Team B plays at least 30% of the total games of the team so they can obtain the gold ranking of the team.

Step 4) Because you cannot be demoted from a tier once you obtain it, even though your team could lose the next 5-10 games and be significantly below Gold MMR, you can't lose it because once you've obtained a rank, it's yours permanently.
Slice like a goddamn hammer.

done correctly it has the potential to be a one-stop source for everything you need (for the casuals) and the depth and analysis TL junkies love.

good luck!!!!!!

As much as I respect the quality of Monte's videos and the hard work he put into them, i gotta agree with sylverfyre. Day9 started his show casting BW high level games, and he himself was a well established BW figure (WCG pan american winner). The fact that he was already well recognized in the community as a guy who knew his shit helped his show tremendously to get started.
