I still find it way more easy to be invested in characters like Rydia or Locke than Cloud or Tifa. Some of the problem is that a lot of the plot and world-building is tied up in optional conversation that a lot of people skip. This is more of an issue in presentation than strictly a measure of quality though. That's a really ambiguous way to describe it. Novels and movies can both have the same caliber stories, it's just that Hollywood decides to be shit. I think a better way to describe it is plot-oriented vs character-oriented. Old FFs really had "stop bad guy, save world, win game", with some character development like FF4. FF3, for instance, basically had no character development from what I remember, and was basically a story of saving the world. Chrono Trigger did this as well. Edit: OK Frog had decent character development but everyone else was basically a caricature after their intro story was over. Newer ones, specifically the FF VII - X era, focused more on the characters and their stories more than just saving the world for the sake of saving it. I like this better, personally, as I get more invested in the personalities than overarching plot in most stories. I was more talking about presentation than anything else. Starting with FF7, video became a more usable way to present the events of a game. I wasn't trying ot say "books are better" but more "this is how they are different." This is even more true the more modern you get (tech gets better -> more possible to incorporate better/more video into RPGs)

Trynd autos more than most AD Tops. He's definitely not an AD Caster. Renek falls into that category better. Trynd is stupid silly because of how he scales. Just because players no longer pick him up doesn't change anything about him. I personally think he's very strong. I use Renekton and Darius the most Top. Wukong would also be included here but I find him better suited Mid. Rengar is a lane bully and can also insta-gib carries late game but I find him very hit or miss.
