There actually is a Test Server for DotA 2. DotA 2 yeah. but most of the PBE stuff are newly ported over heroes and bug fixes rather than actual updates. I'm referring to dota Updates like the new versions 6.78 and stuff. Those have a private beta test group, and rarely ever anything gets leaked, and then the new version comes all at once with no warning. | ||

DotA Updates =/= PBE patches. 90% of PBE changes are bug fixes every couple weeks or so they add in a ported over hero based on the amount of assets being added. Everything being added by PBE has already existed for a while or is a bug fix. Actual dota updates are rare and have a number attached, like 6.78 for example. These are unannounced and have a private beta environment with personally selected beta testers. | ||

DotA 1 content patches (balance changes, new heroes, etc.) are all internal testing. The internal testing group is pretty closed and close to Icefrog, so real leaks tend to be pretty rare (though there are always lots of fakes). DotA 2 patches (which is DotA 1 parity stuff, bugfixes, new DotA 2 functionality/features) always go live publicly on the DotA 2 Test Server before being released into main client. | ||
