This is probably the best thing for gaming in general: a company that is active in the community that is taking part in growing a culture around a product. Right because brood war, the FGC and dota all grew because the companies that made the games managed everything. Hint: a company didn't even make one of those. The FGC would've LOVED company involvement and it's because of the lack of company involvement that we lump all the fighting game players together.
Because of Capcom, SF4 is still around and probably will continue to stick around. SF2, SF3, Alpha Series, CvS series, they're all dead because Capcom didn't support the games and they lose audience to newer and flashier games.

Honestly it's just Phreak and Rivington that are bad. Whenever either one of them casts with any of the actual knowledgable casters (Jatt, Kobe) they just repeat whatever the better caster is saying, or resort to mumbling that don't even make sense from a language perspective, let alone a LoL perspective. Rivington especially is prone to this.
I appreciate what both of these casters have done in the past, but now that there's actual proper casters I think it's time for them to step down.

Kobe only S-tier in looks.

People like the guy.
I fear the day I see Riv run down the hall, though.

I wonder if his beautiful red lips are natural or a work of an exceptionally talented beautician.

I actually like Phreak as well, he's just not anywhere near as good of an (analytical) caster as say Jatt and Kobe. On the plus side, he doesn't try to act like one either (like Rivington) and seems to have a better idea of how good he is as a caster. He does have a good voice for casting and his play by play is fine.

None of those have 32 million international players. And yes, scale is extremely relevant to this discussion. Dota 1 has definitely had that many international players.
No game did that before LoL and I challenge you to find the evidence to tell me differently.

Even the most liberal estimates of DotA's playerbase put it at 15-20 million (the best cite-able number provided was a figure saying 13-15 million in 2010 by Icefrog, everything since then is extrapolation). Saying it broke 32 million is entirely speculative and quite unlikely.

Its pretty impossible to prove a 1:1 player to download ratio, just like its impossible to prove a 1:1 active account to player ratio. BUt 30 million downloads of the maps and 30 million active accounts are roughly similar in their uncertainty.

I think Kobe and Jatt are awful to listen to lol IDK why people say they're the best casters.
Rivington is mediocre, Phreak doesn't pretend to be what he isn't and that makes him one of the better casters in my opinion.

you have to be crazy if you think dota was even on a comparable scale with what LoL is today

Rivington has improved a great deal from a year or two ago.

princexizor is the guy who got laughed out of this forum, went to dota, then got laughed out of the dota forums and now he's back here pretending he's part of the dota crew lol

I would rather cringe while listening to Phreak, then bash my face into my desk with the other casters. They are so fucking annoying I have to mute the stream if the game isn't entertaining in itself.
