Vlad sustain means Zed can't bring Vlad low enough to all in, Vlad can avoid Zed's burst basically throughout the lane phase (either through just running away or pooling), death mark is utterly negated in a 1v1 (pool on reaction means Zed has no space to proc any damage on it and has to use his W shadow if he wants to catch up to Vlad after the pool), and not only does Vlad have better poke/harass options (on top of the range vs melee interaction), but can push as well/better than Zed. And if Zed goes in to try and harass with a W, Vlad can make favorable trades easily.

That being said, my posts were oriented towards top lane (where I've predominantly played the matchup: don't play Vlad mid), and it's different mid lane (i.e. more even compared to top, where Vlad's sustain snowballs it out of control against a Zed), due to the relatively short distance from the turret for both Zed/Vlad, and focus on wave clear. In the Dig vs. CLG match, despite not really itemizing against Zed (went straight for a Spectral and a Needless instead of Armguard/Revolver), Link's Vlad still effectively won the lane (ahead in CS, especially the first few levels, ahead a red pot, and kept scarra pinned to mid turret and unable to roam at all) and, had the game gone on until late/not ended with so lopsidedly with Nien being shut down completely, would easily outscale Zed late in teamfights.

Of course, CLG's team comp with the Elise pick (and Vayne pick, tbh) didn't really mesh well with the Sona/Vlad/Sej picks (aka, huge AoE CC/Dmgz), but eh. Team comp-wise, a Karthus in addition to the Vlad pick would've been beautiful, like holy shit.

EDIT: But yes, I know Elise was one of CLG's first two picks, and Vlad was last so it's not really their fault. However, they probably should've come up with some pre-prepared team comps.

So i laned wu vs sion yesterday and holy shit. The guys sustain is FUCKING. INSANE. I couldnt win trades even though i could consistently pop his bubble, he went AD which i dont think is normal (?) but everytime i tried to trade he'd pop his ult (i guess, i dont know much about sion im bad.) and just hammer away at everything gaining 10-15% hp per hit. Was fucking insane. I'd get him to 10-20% then he'd just start a beatdown while going back to 90%.

I mean i won lane but there was no chance of me killing him (Especially with my bad bad jungler oh my..)

I now have a penta with all 3 types of Ezreal. Blue, AP, and Standard AD. Stacks is next, but that ones harder to do.

You have just discovered the untapped power of bruiser/AD Sion. It's not really effective with the amount of disengages nowadays, but in a straight up 1v1, either you burst him from basically 100-0 (or somewhere close) or you lose as a melee.

Also, popping the bubble on AD Sion isn't really that much of an achievement. He'll max it second (or even third).

I play it a bunch on Twisted Treelines (where if he gets going, ha, gl to you, because a 3v3 is alot easier for Sion to stick/chopchopchop a person than in a 5v5), and it's fun as all heck. Buy Hydra, gg sustain everything.

Yeah i realised pretty quickly the bubble didnt mean a whole lot when he was AD and not maxing it. But that fucking sustain man xD pretty sure he would have crushed me if he was better. Instead we just played the "I'll make you 20% hp then you make me run with 20% hp!" game

Yeah, he probably should've.

Unless you crushed him in like the first few levels, AD Sion should steamroller a Wu. Some early armor to tank your burst, into "LOLZ I HEAL 1/3RD MY HP IN AN AUTO", ok well, not that extreme (until late), but still. You betta get on his choppa.

And then come teamfights with all the knockbacks, cc, and blinks, and AD Sion is sad because he can't chop chop chop anyone (unless he goes the FMallet/Atmas route, which does gimp his damage).

it turns out 50/75/100% lifesteal is pretty good, but no one remembers it because everyone goes AP sion (and because AD sion has boatloads of other problems)
