The champion pool is huge, the likelihood someone has a lot of games on x random champion and is extremely comfortable with it and is in good form isn't that high. Entirely possible someone is an awesome Kennen but sucks at Malphite, but decided they wanted to play Malphite for whatever reason.
There's a pretty big gap in my Renekton and my Jax at the moment for example, and it's simply because I haven't really played Jax in two months.

Jax vs malphite is a farm matchup. Its really annoying playing the matchup as Jax but you definitely don't lose and both farm. Jax's gank receival is just as good as Malphite. There's little kill potential on both sides.
Against Malph I go 9/21/0, take Magic resist quints and blues, armor yellow and AD reds.
What scip said is 100% correct to my understanding of the matchup.

So I'm GP top vs a 4man premade, but they are all top bronze, mid silver, and low gold. All right, Olaf ganks me with half hp, gives me double buff, I don't know what Lux were doing, but when I finished off Olaf, she was cruising around me, and since I just got a double buff I killed her too. Then she comes back, but afk-s under the tower. I walk up to her, and let the minions execute her. Bg, but at least i'm playing gp, so I don't care. After two minutes she comes back, but i'm already rich and fed, so I just push up the wave, and proxy her, because it's a damned normal, and I suppose they are just a group of friends who'd like to play together a bit, whther they are good or not, so why would I be a tryhard ass?
Now that being said, she kept throwing her shits at me, and i'm like what the hell dude, I let you arm, so maybe farm - I didn't say it to her, but that was on my mind. After she tried to hit me with her ult as well (instead of farming the tremendous creepwave in front of her), I had no choice but to two shot her, and then farm her until midgame. Yeah, maybe she wasn't too comfortable with me ignoring her, but how much better is that if I dive her over and over again?

you'd expect people to pick the FoTM shit at random, while other shit only if they played it decently, especially since people tend to want to "protect" their lp and play shit they know

I actually played jayce in a TLIH yesterday. Got put in a 1v2 and killed five times. Still had my muramana at 25:30. If I was a better player and didn't die as much I probably could've had it at ~23. About 4 minutes slower than it used to be but not THAT bad.
The most painful nerf though was the gate cooldown. I could chunk someone down a third of their health bar but I can only Q once every ~12 seconds. It sucks.

Is lee supposed to counter Tryndamere? If yes, how? I've played two games where my team picked Lee to counter trynd. In both game, they failed and fed trynd

If you're getting auto attacked by a high-rage Tryndamere 3 times in a row, you're PROBABLY playing the matchup wrong.

Duo mid is pretty terrible even in competitive games. There are 2 reasons you run duo mid.
1. They are laning a vulnerable champion, and even then it's not really that good. You see a solo mid in a duo lane very frequently getting double the CS of their counterpart in the 1v2.
2. You want a fast mid turret to try to snowball map control. But because of the lane distance, if they've picked a jungler like nasus you probably will not get the turret to half by the time the side turret drops. It's a very jungler/mid dependant strategy.
Playing duo mids that both need levels and farm isn't a viable strategy. It's a fucking terrible strategy. You'll kinda shut down the other laner, but by the 15 minute mark if they played it correctly, you'll have 1 farmed solo, 1 terribly farmed/leveled solo, 2 underfarmed&underleveled what should be solo's, and a jungler. They'll have one farmed solo, their mid is probably going to be down a level and 30cs from where he should be, which is not all that bad, and their duo lane is going to have pushed to/past your inner side turret while picking up absolute free farm.

what I ment was you cant die vs malph as jax except you get caught in a gank. Sry my english is a bit crappy  . I also didnt say that jax can easily kill malph, but that the matchup is far from favored towards malph but still ppl are picking alot of malph into jax in soloq and someone mentioned him as a good counterpick. Jax can actually get slowly ahead in that lane in a symetric jungle situation. Dumping gold into manaregen can also backfire. Again, I'am not saying its easy for jax or anything, but malph is far from autowinning this matchup.
