I don't think skarner's kit is too bad in all honesty. Mana cost reduction on skills, revert some nerfs and possibly change functionality of E/W(mostly E, as it is right now it's a clunky and rather worthless skill) and he's going to be fine. Fix some inconsistencies with R, Level 6+, if skarner blows flash for a gank and you didn't respect it, you should rightfully die. I think if they made it so that the shield's MS buff didn't go away with the shield breaking, that would already stop him from being kited. If they do more than minor changes I'll be sad.
I really like this aspect of skarner's gameplay tbh.

Oh yeah, that was also pretty big. Was able to turn around several tower dives with ease.
the worst thing about W >E > Q is getting used to it. but once you figure it out, or just played liss enough that you can adapt quickly, its superior at almost everything. its less good at tower diving without flash or anyone to tank for you. but its better at everything else.
We need a Liss thread ASAP, Liss is my go to Mid champ these days so having a play to discuss her would be nice. I know someone said they were working on one but I'm not sure what the current status of it is. Maybe I'll work on a quick one that can be expanded. I mean I'll be around to edit it, not going anywhere anytime soon ha.

Im gone to a wedding this week and starting med school next week so even if I get a chance to finish and post the thread, I doubt I'll be able to maintain it particularly well. Hey I gave you guys that global turret gold from my 30 minutes at top that counts as my child support for the month. Also toyed around with karma jungle for a bit, shit's brilliant especially turning ganks around with shield and mantra Q (Which is so painful I was just bursting people down to my amazement) might try to play some more karma jungle in the future.
Skarner is honestly fine. if you give him anything he'd only really need a slightly faster base attack speed. riot is confusing meta issues with balance issues again.
Having a not useless 3rd normal ability would be pretty nice too. inb4 you tell me it's really not that bad and people just don't level it because they are meta sheep...

Skarner is fine from a balance perspective. Maybe slightly weak.
From a design perspective, he has a pointless third spell, which is something they could try to fix. Not every rework in the modern era comes from balance issues. If anything I think it'd be along the lines of Taric, probably give Skarner a new E and change some numbers around but mostly leave him the same as before.
Malz is definitely not a "pubstomper", by the nature of his ult he is team dependent and single target focused, exactly the opposite of a "pubstomper".

I think you underestimate the tendency of pub players to just randomly walk around and get caught out.
Speculation: I think the animation delay on suppress is required for the gamestate to be synchronized. I doubt you'll be able to lower the delay or you'll get Singed uberflip scenarios (which can still happen despite the bugfixes)
Fracture isn't really bad though. Its roughly as good as a majority of junglers off-skill maybe slightly better. it has more damage than crystal slash drastically, far stronger in the jungle than his slash is, especially if you consider that double golems is significantly better than wraiths is to farm now, common skarner builds don't need to stick for longer than 3-4 seconds anyway, and reverie works well enough for that. There is no mathematical reason to level slash over fracture anymore on skarner. the extra 5% slow at level 8 isn't going to make skarner any better at ganking, not realistically, since impale is what nets his ganks kills past 6, and you shouldn't be leveling slash over exoskeleton either.
I admit its far easier just to mash your face on a keyboard than to aim spells and smartly proc the marks, but ease of use isn't a barrier in league of legends like it can be in other games.
by leveling slash second you gain 5% slow, 15 physical damage, and 12 magical damage at levels 8, 10, 12, 13. by that point in time most players armor scaling, assuming no players in the game have bought armor, has given them 10-15% reduced damage from physical more than early in the game, and by the later levels, when the slows start to be more useful, you are going to be in teamfights more often than ganking, and if ganking towers should be fallen, giving a longer way to chase and keep up with a player, meaning the slow is valued less and less for ganking.
compare Fracture to Golden Aegis on jarvan. aegis gives jarvan up to 90 more shield/lvl in team fights, and only 50 more shield in ganks, and only 40 hp/level in the jungle. Fracture gives 30 hp/lvl in team fights and in the jungle, and closer to 15 hp/lvl in ganks. when thought of as only a defensive skill, but the 40 damage per target/lvl from upgrading it can make that health swing act roughly on par with golden aegis pretty consistently. Jarvan isn't complained for having a useless Third skill, even though it is mathematically poor to level golden aegis over his other skills. Skarner has a strong spell in fracture that people complain is useless, even though its superior to leveling slash second.
i don't want to have skarner have a real 'E' because then i'd find a reason not to max his OP skills Q and W. just give him a 1-point wonder scaling passive or some shit. like level 1 20% AS, level 2 22%, level 3 24% etc. give me a reason to take it early and never again, as opposed to the never take it at all ever even at level 18.
lower mana costs on Q OR flat mana costs as opposed to scaling mana costs on Q, revert ult "bug" and he's golden again
