This is NOT normal. As XilDarkz said, it's the norm in every other game for there to be ways for people to find practice games with/against vastly better players to help them improve. There shouldn't be an expectation that you have to be good already for a high level player to be willing to play with you and teach you something. I KNOW that there are higher level players willing to teach, and lower level players willing to learn--but LoL simply doesn't have any avenues for this built in, and the community has failed to develop one for itself. USnip, if you're here, I know you were playing this game when TL LoL inhouses still involved a lot of the old "high-level" players (e.g. Uta, EzPz, etc. still playing in TL Inhouses) so I can't believe that you forgot that these happened. Now hold on a sec friend. Usually when one of these thermonuclear arguments goes down basically there are like 2-3 guys whose posts people actually remember as attached to specific names. Typically those guys are the one being bandwagoned on and his most aggressive opponent. If you're not one of those two, you're assumed to be basically in alignment with one of them on every relevant view. Nobody can keep track of everything 20 posters individually haven't said. So what do I think of inter-ranking interactions in lol? I think it's a side issue, one I didn't address, because if it were there, it would be only one of dozens of methods of improvement he isn't taking advantage of. Streams are an incredible force multiplier for the ability of high skill players to teach lower skill ones. TLs discussion is, imo, of a higher quality than ever. He could probably even go through and read devtracker posts and it would represent relatively high quality prep work. The guy is drowning in resources and opportunities for self examination, but we are dealing with someone who says he paid attention when he was told not to think. Swish that phrase around in your mouth. As far as his credentials in other games: i don't care. It's a non topic for me. The idea that syndra, who I have never played, is apparently some kind of a cheese pick does not move my heart. His problem isn't a lack of access to pro players, it's an inhibition toward critical thinking. Now if you want to discuss lack of access to pro players in league as a whole, that's a completely different issue - not one I'm sure we'd agree on, but a distinct one that needs to be drawn out separately.

TSM doesn't really have this problem because the site is "one" with the team so the players are committed to produce content.

I remember Doublelift mentioning when he first joined CLG that mobafire(i think) was paying him to make guides, and that he would make a fuckton of guides cuz of dat $$$. What patch is this?

PHP is a terrible language and it should die in a pit For example, what is the output of: $count=0 + Show Spoiler + 675 'z'++ in php evaluates to 'aa', which is less than 'z'. The loop continues going with $i being set to 'aa', 'ab', 'ac', etc. until it finally gets to 'zz', and 'zz'>'z'. EDIT: I think I'm off by 1, but I don't have a PHP interpreter on me so someone double-check my work

The absurdity of asking for a group of players to want to be ranked 5's diamond/challengers, when he himself was only Silver II, should have said everything. Especially adding on to that; he expected 6 hour play time from people. I don't think it's completely absurd for someone to expect to improve from Silver to Diamond over the course of a season. It's a good goal. The 6 hours a day was honesty probably an exaggeration, I wouldn't have taken that at face value. On July 24 2013 03:54 wei2coolman wrote: Also, that's not to fucking say there aren't tools out there for him to learn. It's fucking LoL for god sakes. It's got high level players streaming 24/7; 4 websites regarding item builds for champions; VoDs are widely available (except China's, cuz fuck China), also got great TL articles, we got this GD (though harsh) provide plenty of great answers and thinking. Everyone here has started from scrub tier; most of us probably had the whole "why my team so bad? I got good score, why am I not winning?" Got to correct that type of thinking, before anything else. The problem is that there's too much information and probably 95%+ of it is garbage. Trying to filter that information without ALREADY having a working knowledge of the game or the professional scene can be enormously inefficient, if not even counterproductive.

Is it because it's too easy to find a bad guide/the bad guides severely outnumber the quality ones? I mean I used I've used some of the guides there to some success, but I do think you have to be careful in what you're looking for.

I think too much of it is the whole "LoL IS SO EASY COMPARED TO DOTA" bullshit. I think that the "LoL is too easy" mentality comes from the fact that in LoL you are doing comparatively less actions than DotA/HoN since they allow denying and what not. What some folks don't get is that means that your mechanics in what you are allowed to do has to be that much more polished since it's still a matter of one player's mechanics over another player's, everything else being equal/similar. You can only polish mechanics by playing more and focusing on it rather than worrying about other stuff.

Afaik mercs would work on Malph's Q but not his E (the biggest offender when it comes to neutralising Trynd's damage), so it's not that important. Other cc include Nami's stun (legit), Ori's slow, and Jarvan's slow. His knock-up and Ori's, Nami's or Malph's ults can't be affected by Tenacity.

Honestly, what happened was he sent me a coding challenge and I only had the most basic PHP experience. I learned enough to throw together the site in a couple afternoons and hooked it up to a nice database. My code can end up being pretty messy though, so whatever. Curse didn't like my coding challenge either ![]()
