It was wands for casters that were considered stat sticks, since the designed the game around not actually needing to use wands. For melee classes bows/xbows/thrown were stat sticks because you didn't actually need to use them. Which is interesting because they decided that having to use wands/xbows was not fun.

Actually wanding was needed in Vanilla atleast, not sure about BC, since you had to wand when you ran out of mana, while you waited on it to regen. Daggers and swords were also stat sticks, since for example they would have something like 28-126 damage, for a caster, where as a dps dagger w ould be something more like 120-150 or something for a rogue or whatever. tldr, basically unless you were a rogue/warrior/paladin whatever, wands/daggers or swords were all basically stat sticks.

You just farm hard and stack CDR over AP, then midgame you group and Mantra E and bash into the enemy team every 20 seconds with another big AOE/disable ult. You'll win fights through basically attrition and brute force. She lacks the sheer burst of most AP carries, but IMHO its not a big deal. Picking up an Aegis pretty much negates the difference. The CDR stacking is really the key. The difference between Mantra on a 36 second cooldown and Mantra on a 21.6 second cooldown is huge, considering that a well placed Mantra R+E -> Q -> W can easily drop the cooldown by 14+ seconds (so long as E and Q damage at least two targets each, and W gets all three ticks), meaning one auto or Q and you can cast the whole combo all over again 6 seconds later. It's like building multiple lockets, only no one spent thousands of gold to do it. If anyone wanted to build a Season 3 poke comp, Karma is definitely #1 pick. She may not have the ridiculous range of some champions (Nidalee, Xerath, Ziggs) but she can kite an entire enemy team forever by herself. On July 17 2013 14:40 Dark_Chill wrote: I don't get it. There are theorycrafters here and people who analyze different champs/items and see how they could fit or don't fit into the game well, and there are people from here who work at Riot. Doesn't that make it way easier to get responses from rioters on why they're making certain changes and such? Not really. Just because you work at Riot and also frequent a forum doesn't mean you can freely discuss whatever you want on that forum. If SmashGizmo or anyone else at Riot posted anything here that wasn't already revealed elsewhere they could get in serious trouble. The most we've ever seen, and will likely ever see, are number tweaks en route to the PBE in less than a day anyway. Moreoever, imagine if it were true that we had privileged access to Rioters. That sort of thing doesn't stay secret, and eventually our subforum would be overrun by people trying to get better access to Rioters. It's for these reasons that Rioters only sporadically grace forums other than their own, or do so on the down low.

Wasn't there a point where you needed to weave Wanding into a spell rotations to maximise damage on certain classes? I'm thinking of Vanilla Spriests (but I might be completely imagining it).

Doesn't that make it way easier to get responses from rioters on why they're making certain changes and such? Well, Rioters like Smash aren't allowed to tell us super secret stuff ahead of time. Last time someone did that, it contributed to them losing their job :\ TL LoL is also quite small. I can count the number of regulars on my hands and feet. There's really no incentive for Riot to respond regularly in this forum when they can reach a much wider audience on Reddit and their official forums. On top of that, I'd imagine that the average skill level of TL LoL is significantly higher than the average player on Reddit, not to mention the official forums. We also tend to be a bit elitist and our idea of balance often trends towards the OP due to TL's Starcraft background. That said, we do get Rioters who drop in now and then. It's pretty awesome when it happens.

Not really thinking about them giving us info, but you'd think that some things said on the forum would catch someone's eye. Continuous nerfs/buffs to champions in short time spans, nerfs/buffs to items and champions at the same time, etc would be stuff that is frequently predicted by the top theorycrafters, and it still goes through. I guess it could also be that Riot does have long-term plans for things (like Jayce showed: nerfs to keep him down for a while and then slightly reworked kit), but I would guess that complaints like "what Riot is doing doesn't make sense" would be less if they sort of shared their long term goals all the time.

Of course I'd ignore 99% of the comment, but it would be cool to see you guys gets some more recognition for the difficult work yall do.
