I just don't even know what I need to do to get better, as opposed to RTS games where it was really easy for me to identify weaknesses and improve. Can we have a "how to get better at this game" discussion? When you watched your replays, did you watch to look for objective timings? Did you look for times when you needed to push advantages in lane? Did you look for when you overextended in lane? Did you go over every team fight and identify why it went poorly/well? If you really want to improve at the game you have to be willing to think about why you are taking the actions you are, and what actions you will be able to take in the future. That's why I'm still bad at this game, I just play it to kill shit cuz thinking is hard. ![]()

practice csing in customs. do you find yourself lacking map awareness (ppl walk past wards and you don't realize?) practice focusing on the minimap proactively, or gain a greater effective vision (sitting back in chair, using smaller screen resolution) or play BW hue do you find yourself not going to teamfights in due time? put prioritization on following to fights or ganks (if your lane opponent leaves) just to gain experience and see what comes of it. you'll very quickly realize when to leave to follow, or when to initiate t he leaving just by proxy.

One thing that I definitely am much better at is csing, but it doesn't seem to translate to actually doing better in games. I also look at the minimap maybe too much (10+ years of BW, War3, SC2 have more or less engrained that in me). I just very rarely actually win my lane convincingly enough to just wreck the game. Even in most of the games that I do carry, I usually get an early cs lead and force the opponent to back, but I don't finish the kills. The other laner generally plays pretty safe and calls for ganks. I try to roam but never get much done in other lanes (I main top and am speaking from this perspective; I usually have a better time in mid lane though not always. I'll finish lane phase like 1-0-1 and then snowball after teamfights. Rarely do I get the games where I go 6-0 in lane and then just autowin fights for my team. I think my biggest problem is that I just can't kill people. I've tried to focus on playing really aggressively, but I just get more of the same when I get them really low and don't kill them. Occasionally I get frustrated by this, try to tower dive, and die, but that is pretty rare. When I try to call counterjungles based on buff timings and push my lane, my mid/jungle tend not to respond. I just don't know what the key is to finishing kills and actually snowballing a lane in a way that's not taking a decent cs lead. EDIT: Oh one other thing that I am really, really bad at is getting farm from 20-30 minutes. It's rare that in this time my cs will go up more than 40-50 during this time, and that just can't be right. I think I'm objective-focused to a fault, because while I'm trying to group people for drag before it comes up, everyone else is out farming lanes, often overextended.

1) stay in lane and shove the living shit out of it; force the jungler and mids from the enemy to come to your lane, and hope your team is smart enough to press advantages when they spot the enemies in your lane. 2) wander around in enemy jungle, and midlane, and make da plays.

Can we have a "how to get better at this game" discussion? Put your replays up in the 5hit thread so he can look at them. Or put them up here so someone else can look at them. If you are still low and can't see what you did wrong, your thought process about the game is incorrect and needs to be identified.

Oh god, please don't get him back. This was definitely one of the times I hated the TL veteran rules. I see people like TheYango and I'm like "Yeah, there should be more people like that guy!" Then there's Bly and it's like "wow, that dude's an asshole. How is he not banned?" For sure, he was right about stuff plenty of times. I could say that stuff that's right, but it could also be inappropriate. Shouldn't get a free pass either. For example, I could say + Show Spoiler + Nazi experiments on jews and other races provided pretty decent advances in medicine, and weren't all bad.
