Or when you somehow forget there's even a Blitz.

If Riot ever does a showmatch like that All-Stars vs Rioters match from last year, they need to make it happen. You mean clusterfuck allstar? Different languages, yo.

It has:
Range: 1075 Projectile Speed: 2000
vs Ezreal Q
Range: 1100 Projectile Speed: 2000
What makes it so much harder seemingly to hit? It feels like its a 50% or less hitrate in most games.
Do you have real statistics, or just a gut feeling? Because Ez just spams his Q all day and does not care if it misses, but if a varus ult misses, everyone remembers that.

Obviously you won't have pro game level communication, but most progamers will have enough ability to communicate without speaking from solo queue that the game will be good enough to showcase individual ability.

Gut feeling more than real statistics but watching OGN, LCS etc, it seems to miss at a far higher rate than you'd expect for such a powerful initiation/catch/disengage ultimate.
I don't play varus so I can't say for sure if it's due to the range discrepancy but you don't usually see a skillshot ultimate missed 2-3 times in a row.

Difference is the impact of the spell... Varus R, NEEDS to hit in a teamfight. A missed ez Q with that short CD; and only damage, isn't as big of an impact.

Varus ult has a deceptively long wind up. I miss it by them being just slightly out of range so often because of it.

I peeked at RoG's red tracker since so much of it was about Riot's new giant Frejold's patch... ugh. Riot's responses to their not-so-subtle shoe-horning being decried is so... typical. Still disappointing, but typical and expected nonetheless. Eh, I hope it's not just "let's make it cool (and dull) and show it with a lot of pyrotechnics!" and then... kinda nothing but some hints, like they did with the Shadow Isles.

Isn't that super hard is Blitz decides to use the bushes to deny vision/zone though? How do you stop him from bum rushing your lane bush?
Ward it and/or play with an AD with good lvl 1 damage (Draven, MF, etc.) Shield + Tornado on both can save your AD from a back sometimes and a death nearly always. Janna is amazing against anyone that relies on all-in initiation to kill you in lane.

I don't get Varus' popularity at all. If he had Cait-like range he would be godly in a poke comp, because the ult is really good for Disengaging and counterengages(but bleh for engaging), but he doesn't offer much more than, say, Ashe (who no one plays) and his steroid is unwieldy compared to a good one like Vayne, Kog, Ez, etc.
A Varus pick is pretty much saying "I'm an AD Carry, I don't do anything really that good and can't outplay you in any way, but hey, I'f you let me do my thing you will die."

scaling dmg based on % max hp is a useful skill toi have, also lots of cc and poke

Varus is a lot stronger than Ashe in lane. Particularly since he has the versatility to be able to play certain solo lanes (though admittedly most teams don't take advantage of this).
Also, I'm not sure how Varus' steroid is more unwieldy than Ezreal's. Staying at 5 stacks to keep your Aspd buff vs. having to kill something, which your AoE spells will often just do incidentally anyway.

well, if blitz is rushing my bush, he has no minions, but i still have mine. So, depending on composition, they might just lose the fight.
grab is not an automatic fightwin in all situations, sometimes you can just fight back.

Had a 10 game losestreak today, playing solo top Riven. I usually win my lane, but I am very bad at teamfights, I just don't know when or how to engage. I mean, I've only ever played ADC and ap mid so obviously there's a learning curve, but it does kind of bug me how it can be so different.

I just wish I could play him better. on the topic of his ult, the wind-up is really annoying, but even more than that, people see the charge and they just flash away (or dodge) since it is much more important than an ez q. On the subject of varus in a solo lane and his passive, I've seen AP varus, but I'm wondering whether or not one could run varus as hybrid or as an ad caster with his passive. Is that something that could be done effectively?

I might pick up Varus as my first AD (okay, maybe Cait first). He seems to be really strong overall-- basically has two and a half damage steroids (passive + W (both passive and procs), a great poke (Q) , and two CC's (E/R).
|
Varus seems to do a lot of damage. I was surprised by just how much when he used his ult and full combo on me. He's all AoE damage.

i really hate backseat initiators
