475/75 =~ 6 wards need to be placed for the item to start paying off, which in an ideal scenario (=2 wards placed at the same time, they are in perfect position for the whole duration) is 9 minutes. In 9 minutes, Philo + Kage's net 486 gold, but with a substantially higher input cost, at 670 gold. Hmm... So Sightstone is the best gold-per-ten item available. However, I personally like getting them all, so which to get first is the question. I would argue for completing Philo and Kage's first, since the laning-phase of the game tends to be more stable, and if you get the Sightstone as the laning phase ends, it will very quickly start paying off, unless ofcourse you have a lane-opponent who's pinking a lot. | ||

Some quick math shows that it takes about 15 minutes to get Philo-Kage, assuming 150g bounty (assist) and going for a somewhat risky start (bead+charm+2wards start). It comparatively takes about 30 minutes to get Ruby Sightstone + Locket, assuming 1k bounty (dragons, towers, assists). Since Philo-Kage gold is 9, it will take slightly more than half the time to get Ruby + Locket, quite close in total time. Edit: Wait, forgot to calc wards-vs-G/10 after you get the sightstone skewing the results. Under the assumption that two new ward gets placed every 2 minutes (instead of 3), and that they are free after the 13 minute mark (150 gold bounty) if you have Sightstone. This means the Sightstone is effectively generating 75 gold per minute after the 13 minute mark, while Philo generates 30 gold per minute after the 6 minute mark, and Kage's 24 gold per minute after the 15 minute mark. Whoa is Sightstone good or what?  I'd still argue getting a Philo, though (as said by sob3k) not as much for the reason that it opens up Shurelias (really, who does Eleisa's or Ohmwrecker?) but that a quick happenstance assist, or accidental FB for the support can get it very quickly, on a bead+charm start. (And since I'm stubborn, I'll probably continue getting Kage's as well, at least on the supports/in games where the Shard of true Ice active is decent (alistaarrrr?).) | ||
