@sedicius: Current KR Allstar #1 votes: Top Maknoon 32.6%, Mid Ambition 37.5%, Bot Pray 33.9%, Support Madlife 76.4% (lmao), Jungle Insec 53.9%"

For those interested. I don't know too much about the scenes other than NA and EU but that looks like a pretty beast KR Allstar team.

Also, without watching vods or streams, how can I get more informed on the KR/SEA/TW/CN scenes?

Without watching VODs or streams, you'll only hear second hand accounts of these teams, and will not be able to make judgements of your own. But if that's not an option for you, here's a quality post by a guy who summarized the Korean scene as a whole. It's just one guy's opinion though.

http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1br77i/nubofdeaths_ogn_olympus_champions_spring_2013/

As for the voting, it's just a casual vote for the players with the most exposure, just like it is for the other regions. There are people voting for Locodoco, simply because they want to reunite him with Madlife. Legitimately good players, acknowledged by professional players and high solo-que players alike, such as Imp and Expession are being out-voted by players with bigger fan bases. Everybody knew that this tournament would never be a fair representation of the regions involved, but nevertheless, it's disappointing as hell.

Oh well, might as well see Maknoon trolling the team for everyone's entertainment. There are so many quality players like Kakao, bengi, Deft, Expession, Imp, and Faker who might never get the chance to represent Korea if not for this tournament. People don't care though.

Please elaborate. The only player I think that doesn't belong on the team is Maknoon[EDIT: Arguably PraY could be replaced by another adc], and if Maknoon is your weakest player, I'll say you still in good shape.

Anyone knows Garena voting?

Ambition: Experienced, safe pick. I personally prefer Faker, but I can see where the majority is seeing here. Totally legitimate pick, and I have absolutely zero qualms here. God forbid RapidStar overtakes him.

Maknoon: Are you kidding me? Maknoon would tell you himself that Expession is better. Not in a better shape, not on a hot streak, just straight out better. Several professional gamers have voiced similar opinions also, as well as high ELO amateurs.

Ssumday and Flame are on a roll as well, and have some international experience, but I'll let them slide as their body of work as a whole is not that extensive. However, Expession is a proven top laner that is way less erratic than Maknoon, whose throwing ability comes into question especially considering how poorly he is performing at the moment. There is absolutely no reason to pick Maknoon whether you are picking him in terms of current form, or overall ability as a player.

PraY: I'm actually thankful he is in first place, because otherwise Locodoco would end up representing Korea. I'd much rather prefer Imp to represent Korea, however, I'll concede PraY is the more experienced of the two. There are others such as Deft who has had better performances than PraY recently, but we'll ignore form. Imp, on the other hand, has been playing at a high level for quite some time, and should be in contention. Imp is in a better shape, no question, but I won't go as far as to say he is a superior player without question.

Madlife: Madlife isn't even on a hot streak. There's no synergy between the potential bottom-lane. Madlife just happens to be the biggest name. While Madlife isn't neccessarily a poor pick, people are completely forgetting about existing bottom-lanes. What exactly is the reasoning for picking two famous players that have never played with one another, when both players aren't at the top of their game at the moment? You can either go for existing bottom lanes that have proven class, or you can pick two amazing players that are on a blazing hot streak. This duo of PraY and Madlife is a strange compromise of the two, and I can see no good coming from that.

Give me Imp and Mata any day of the week. But I guess they're not famous enough. Hell, I'd even settle for PraY and Cain. At least they have a good synergy going for them. It's kind of like Yellowpete and Edward representing Europe. Two famous names, with very little thought put into the actual end result.

inSec: Another player that I'm thanking god is in the first place. Otherwise we'll have Cloud-bloody-Templar representing our region. There are more in form players, but I think inSec is a good compromise between sufficient skills to go with the neccessary recognition from the fans. A legitimate pick.

I guess I'm most discontent with the top lane, and am not amazed by any means by the potential bottom lane duo of PraY and Madlife. That's three out of five picks I am not happy with, and I am certain that any coach or professional player suffering from a stroke could come up with a better team than that. I'm aware that this is the nature of fan-based voting, but it doesn't stop me from being severely disappointed that famous names are being chosen over worthy players with smaller fan bases. I mean, this is perhaps the one and only chance for players like Expession to make a name for himself in front of the world, even if it is just a exhibition match.

I think Expession is better than Maknoon. Maknoon thinks Expession is better than himself. Woong thinks Expession is better than Maknoon. Everybody who has played against Expession has ackowledged his skill level. But none of this will matter if nobody remembers him because Maknoon happens to have a bigger fanbase, thus more exposure on the international level (which will draw even more fans). Maybe Maknoon isn't such a bad player to fall back on (he truly is a quality player). But Expession deserves it more, and this may be his only chance because his team most likely won't qualify for any of the big international tournaments.

Who cares though, right? Maknoon is awesome, and that's what this competition should be, an awesome tournament between superstars of the game, not a legitimate competition between the best players possible.

You seem really upset about Maknoon winning over Expession. But you know what? Maknoon is still gonna outclass whatever Top laner NA and EU send to represent. Sure, Expession is a beast, but the nature of fan vote's is that the more popular players are going to get picked. That said it's clear the KR team is head and shoulders above the NA/EU team. Also I don't think Maknoon is going to troll or anything. This isn't like the last all-star match where he played Teemo, this is a whole extra qualification spot for the World Championships that KR probably deserves.

I can't speak for North American, or European selection because I'm quite oblivious to what goes on over there. But I believe it's pretty much the same bullshit over there too. People being voted in because of their recognition, instead of their value as a player. I resent with that very sentiment, why reward people for their fame, not talent? The point of playing the game is to be the best at it, not be the most famous for playing it, right? It doesn't matter how talented and hard working Maknoon is, if Expession happens to be better than him right now. It was our chance as fans to reward someone who has been working at his art really hard, but has yet to reap the benefits.

Maknoon is an amazing player with a winning personality. I don't question him as a player, but he shouldn't be topping the charts right now. There are others more deserving than him, and some of them are not even being given a second glance.

As for the World Championship qualification spot, I'm kind of skeptical over whether the team Korea would take it as of now. I'm ever hopeful, of course.

Fair enough, it's certainly developed into a popularity contest, although the NA votes are shaking out in a way I'm okay with. Giving the fans the only say is far too much, as someone suggest it should be like Baseball and Football where it's 1/3 fan vote, 1/3 player vote, and 1/3 media vote. I didn't watch OGN last year as a didn't buy a subscription, but I've caught up on the recent games and I agree, Expession is really good. He doesn't have the personality as Maknoon but if he keeps playing at his current level I think he'll gain some more recognition from the NA side of things.

I'm going to be honest. I have been extremely disappointed with gtrsrs's behavior as manager of both DNG and Velocity. You aggressively trash talk other teams and players, have a hugely inflated view of "your team" and "your players", and in my mind just act completely inappropriate for a manager who wants his team to be taken so seriously/treated like a professional organization.

You might not give a shit if I'm disappointed, but I really wished for a lot better from a guy who is such a known TL community member. I love supporting TL LoL players in their endeavors, it's really exciting and I feel a connection to them. gtr with his teams was no different until gtr's attitude completely ruined any good will I had, and even turned that into bad will.

i guess i'm just tired of everyone thinking they know every side to every rumor or piece of news when they only know what the public knows. and people expecting me to justify or explain every decision made. you want to replace your arguably best player with 1 week to go before a tournament? good luck! it's definitely not been easy. as far as i'm concerned, 1g1d is a perfectly reasonable and skilled league of legends player. i never followed sc2 so i haven't been caught up in the deezer hate. the stuff that people have posted to me is pretty bm yeah, i can't deny it. what am i supposed to do about it though? he hasn't been bm in any practice or scrim, and there's no opportunity to ghost at a LAN. call me a sucker for giving people a chance to prove themselves, but it's worked out with cris so far. if 1g1d was a bad pick for the lan, i'll take the heat. if it works out, then it works out. my options on such a short notice were extremely limited and i've done the best with what i have. thanks for understanding

Meh, if it was any other player besides Deezer you just recruited, I'd be reaching for my wallet right now in support of Velocity.

I got over the fact that I didn't like Cris's attitude originally and ended uprooting for you in the LCS qualifiers, but I don't think I can do the same with Deezer. His history of shitting on the entire esports community just goes too deep.

Because 99% of the player base doesn't have a good enough understanding of the game to actually judge ability. They can only see results, fame, and recognition because their understanding of the game is too poor to judge a player's actual ability even on a basic level.

Why do you think people went the longest time believing TSM would stand a chance against foreign competition? Because they saw wins against NA teams where they looked good--they could only judge the fact that a player got fed and looked like he was carrying, with virtually no ability to actually judge the strength of their play.

I agree with most of the things you say, but I wouldn't insult bronze 4 that way. Deezer was a special and unique kind of horrifying.

Zac's passive on a jungler is so retarded. ._. You can just stalk the opposing jungler and try to be there for every of his early ganks, and unless their 2v2/3v3 is stupidly stronger than yours they will never be able to fight simply because they'll have to eat a bunch of free damage from your laner(s) if they want to finish you off. And Unstable Matter's damage is easily 60-70 at skill level 1 and on low level champs so it's not like he lacks damage himself... while every spellcast heals him you case of a mexican standoff, even on minions.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

I'm gonna be honest here, if you guys win games with Deezer, qualify for LCS with Deezer, and come across as nice, genuine, professional dudes...the vast majority of people aren't going to give a shit that you recruited Deezer.

Like some people are gonna shit talk you guys for having him on your team forever and always. But let's not forget that at one time Jatt was the most hated person in the League community. And Hotshot rage happened every day.

People can change, the community's attitude towards people change even more.

I have no background with SC and had never heard of Deezer before so unless someone tells them you're probably right. This forum is obviously biased since it seems everyone knows who he is lol.

pretty much exactly this
i'm OBVIOUSLY being very cautious about deezer being some blowhard racist psychopath and i'm not signing him to any contracts until i know he's got his behavior under control. that being said, he's been nothing but studious, polite, and hard-working in preparation for this LAN. didn't realize it was such a sin to be a forgiving person hehe

and yeah, no one outside of the sc2 community knows who he is... i'd literally never even heard of him til a week ago. had he not come forward and said "i'm deezer i have a bad reputation," couldn't he have lived in the shadows of his former self and built up a good reputation as a league player? so grats to him on coming forward and being honest with me. takes balls and i appreciate that, and so does my team.

I understand the short term aspect of it. I get where you're coming from. But Deezer definitely has a bad rep, so keep an eye on it.

I'm sure you already know this, but I do understand management. Your public image is definitely important if you want to last (just look at TSM), and Deezer's public image ain't a good one. You may find it stupid (I certainly do) but the masses need to be placated at least somewhat. It's a game that anyone in any business setting needs to play - even those of us who don't care about our personal image.

Best of luck.

Forgiving is not a word to use here. Willful ignorance may be better.

I really don't think guitar deleted it, I think a mod removed the post and guitar hasn't bothered checking since it was removed.
