Ive been duoQ with a buddy of mine, he started at Gold 5 and I got placed into Silver 4. We go duo bot every time and win our lane pretty much every game. In games we win about 80% of our games together. I started with getting around 25~ points every game for a win and after a couple of games I've already made it into Silver 1. In Silver 1 I got around 30~ points every won game, while losing about 10 for a loss. I quickly made it into Gold 5. I thought the LP gain would get lower but still im netting about 28~ points every win, still losing about 10 on a loss.
However my buddy all the time has only gained about 15 for a win, losing about 15 for a loss. He actually stayed in Gold 5 during my silver promotions. He just cant get to the promotional series on our games with his far less LP gain.
Infact, last evening I actually managed to pass him, getting into promotions for Gold 4, while he is still only at 78 LP. I gain about double or near triple his LP while I lose way less on a defeat. At first I thought it was because he was simply higher ranked, but its still like this now Ive passed him in rank.
Anyone can enlighten me on the how and why on this one? Your MMR is higher than your division. His MMR is equal to/lower than his division. Think of it as accelerated ELO when playing ranked for the first time. He's playing league games around his MMR. You're playing league games lower than your MMR. The game tries to balance the two by bootstrapping your League points to your hidden MMR.
Ah ok, so basicly I am supposed to be higher but started lower, so I gain more? He's gonna love it when I tell him that ^_^

He's good enough to put curse in where they're at right now. What elo is he at? I don't get how some pro players can be good enough for playing in tournaments but stuck in "low" elo. Its because the team game and the soloqueue game aren't the same game. Its been like in DotA for a long long time, however these ideas pretty new to LoL because most LoL teams just an amalgeration of good soloqeue players. If I remember correctly he ended S2 around 1800-1900 elo. He's a good enough team player to play at the level required of him. Daimondprox was also known for being low elo for a "pro" as well. ¨
Diamondprox wasn't known for being a low Elo pro. He got picked up by Empire while he was low Elo (which is what he's known for), but he got up in Elo real quick and floated in top50 EUW for all of season 2, I believe.

Yes, I moved from Gold III to Gold I after my promo. If your hidden mmr is way higher than the league you're currently in you may skip a division.

I played an ARAM with full-ad Jarvan with BOTRK/BT/LW/BC.
I two-shot people, and my health bar could go from 0-100 in 2s flat. It was glorious.

Soo I'm like border of Gold II/Gold I and I just can't seem to progress. It's literally win-lose-win-lose-win-lose. At the point where I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I think I'm at the point where my top lane play is that high of a level but my other lanes aren't? So frustrating not being able to move up lol, I'd rest easy once I'm Plat so I wouldn't have to worry about tanking too much.
Any advices from you high rated soloQers out there? Honestly can't tell if I'm going on tilt too easy or just not being focused enough. Most of my losses come from being ahead by 10 kills then just throwing hard.

So I was playing Taric, and we were creaming them so I tried to solo their fed Zed, and of course he started murdering me and I died.
But on my death recap, I had something like "Killer: Zed -Shiruken 500 Shadow Slash 500 Death Mark 500" whatever that's all normal, but what surprised me was that I also had "Assist: Akali, <something mark don't remember what was here> 500, Basic Attack 500"
And I stop, and say, "What the fuck? There was an Akali in this game?"
There wasn't an Akali in the game (their team was MF Ali Xin Zed Singed). I commented on it in all chat, nobody replied because they were furiously microing a pitched 5v4 team battle which I was sitting out on because I was busy being dead.

It's just a display bug, I have seen the weirdest death recaps - I even vaguely recall a death recap telling me that a Flash killed me.

From my understanding Death Recaps are one of the buggiest things in this game.

AP Nasus with Liandry's torment is absolutely disgusting.
Like its not trolly in the slightest. He just presses E on a teamfight and the whole team just dies an awful death, while he gets to W the AD carry.
Literally free elo.

theres a huge gap in skill among even the top amateur players on NA, I think riot needs to give more incentive for people to start playing 5s

Dyrus played and commented a game where he played top lane Taric. I know some people (myself included) was interested in how top Taric would do.

Not sure if the link will work but you can search "A fabulous game" by TSirDiesALot on youtube. If anyone watches it, I'd be interested to know how it turned out.

I find the BotRK situation so hilarious.
The item was already good and everyone said if riot buffs it's going to be too good. Riot buffed it anyway and now it's massively overpowered
What a twist!

The guy only said that they are doing some research and havent even decided if aussie servers are worth it, sorry.

When the first PBE news about BOTRK getting 40$ ATK SPD came out like 3 weeks ago, I think everybody knew it's going to be ridic, can't believe riot still did it.

A rioter confirmed them on the LoL site a few days ago.

the botrk situation is hilarious. everyone percieves the item to be overpowered while backing up their balance issue claims only with anectodes and without real data.
also when is an item overpowered anyways?
its not the first time this happens guys.
edit:
it's also interesting how ridiculously costeffective morellonomicon since the cdr buff is. you get about +1/3 free stats without the passive which happens to be quite useful against botrk users as well.

no it's not. only because things are costeffective on paper doesn't automatically make them overpowered. perception is and will allways be the n1 measurement for balance as long as you don't have statistics. and even then, your statistics can only tell you about the game balance as it is played and not about all the possibilities that might have occured. More often than not there are combinations that are overpowered but not frequently played and the opposite.

I commented on it in all chat, nobody replied because they were furiously microing a pitched 5v4 team battle which I was sitting out on because I was busy being dead. This one actually is a known... feature? of Death Mark. Basic Attacks that get amplified by Death Mark get recorded as Akali doing the damage. + Show Spoiler + @Morellonomicon - MP5 is hard to rate cost-efficiency of. It is deliberately not valued as 60G per point on larger items, because it gets less useful the more you have of it (think of it this way - if you had 200 mp5, it would have no value at all, on any character)
@BOTRK - I've seen numbers (didn't re-calc the math) claiming that even on an ADcaster-carry like graves, when you use the activate, you get more damage on a 1300 health target from QRactive than you do with a bloodthirster's QR. Couple this with the fact that you autoattack when they're at high health (making better use of the 5% current health passive than you would get if you 100-0 them entirely with autoattacks like the RoG math wants you to) and then finish them off with abilities (including BOTRK active) Also, other AD carry items don't give many stats that are self-synergistic as a first item. A cost-effective pile of AS and damage and a proc that scales well with AS is going to be overall more powerful for autoattackers (all carries, many other champs) than an equally cost-effective pile of pure AD (bloodthirster).
Meanwhile, even AD casters are picking it up because the active is worth having (Zed was already doing this with the old version) even if it's not enormously efficient for them. It feels like the mid/late S2 DFG more than Cleaver.
