I like the idea of just having to pay the difference for rune tiers. That would be cool. Then you could experiment at low levels with which rune setups you liked.

Riot should create a position: TL Ambassador.

Just sit on TL all day and tell Riot all the good ideas TLers come up with to implement in League to make it the best game ever.

Right right, I get that. But I am talking about a position called that. Where you have to apply and have recommendations, meet certain requirements. That'd be an awesome job. Hell. I could do it from here. I read pretty much every thread on TL LoL with all my free time.

I have no idea what I am gonna do when summer is over and I can't charge my phone via solar all day haha.

Also, are you able to post/view TL from work? When I worked for GE I couldn't. I had to do some Computer Sciency things to get around their restrictions for my TL viewing pleasure.

NA servers are so dead right now :/ Playing for 2 minutes, 5 minutes of global game freezing lag, repeat. Kinda annoying

Also, are you able to post/view TL from work? When I worked for GE I couldn't. I had to do some Computer Sciency things to get around their restrictions for my TL viewing pleasure.

Depends where you work obviously. Some people can browse videos.

I think government jobs generally block TL.
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

My only gripe with the rune pages is that they are obtuse, it was the last thing I learned when I started playing LoL. It felt really tacked on and pain-in-the-assy.

I had an idea after hearing someone (Alaric?) talk about a friend collecting champs like pokemon. I think it would be cool if Riot designed a sidequest RPG-like element to the game. You could do quests with certain champs to either earn IP or that champ. Obviously huge design commitment but I think it would be really cool for people that want all the champs but would rather not grind a hundred games. Appeals to those former WoW or pokemon players etc

That sucks, we've had so much server problems on EUW (and old EU before the split) in the past :/ Riot should take some of their esport millions and improve server stability.

Regarding Runes:

If you don't have 20 rune pages, if you want to build your runes for specific top lane match-ups you might have 4 pages geared for top lane and then 1 page for support when you don't get your choice role. If you want to play mid you have to go back and change your 4 rune pages to gear for mid lane instead. This isn't fun and the only reason I would buy more than 5 rune pages is to avoid this annoyance. It's like when you used to be able to buy more than 9 Armor Seals!

IMO:
1) Riot should remove the requirement to purchase rune pages and allow players to modify a single Rune page before each game. Allows for more strategy, flexibility, experimentation within the meta and caters to players of all ranks.
2) Riot should increase the cost of all Runes by at least 50% to compensate for the free Rune pages. I would double the cost of some of the cheapest runes.
3) Riot should remove all the Lesser and Normal tier Runes and just make the Greater tier the only Runes available because low tier runes are a noob trap and it doesn't cater to new players and riot likes to balance for low ELO anyway.

Right now I have 5 rune pages for the 5 main types of champs I play. I find it very hard to justify spending close to 20k IP just to have a unique 6th rune page. If instead I could just purchase new marks, seals, glyphs or quints (even if they were more expensive) and mix them into current pages on the fly I would definitely be buying more runes.

Low tier runes are generally really cost efficient. But I agree that I'd rather have 20 rune pages for everyone, and low tier runes removed. I'd also rather they were free tbh.

The idea of buyable power is stupid.

In order to unlock Nami, you have to play Fisherman Fizz and perform his full dance on summoner's rift in a certain 100x100 unit area in the river. The area that triggers the unlock is randomized each game, and even if you're in the right spot you only have about a 40% chance of it working each time so you have to do it a couple times to make sure.

Reminder: IT issues don't allways resolve themselves by throwing money at them .And it's the same @Riot, see their communication in the months comming to the EU split.

They should also fix the pricing of some niche runes. I don't get the logic behind runes that you use for a single champion should cost 800 IP (2k for quints). Just make all of them cost 400/1000, or something like that. I'm getting to the point where I have all champions and most runes that actually are worth using, but for newer players, the rune system really sucks.

For example, hybrid penetration reds cost 7380 IP. They're only used on a few champions, but who would buy them when you could buy anywhere from one to 10+ champions for that same price? If you add the price for a new runepage on top of that, it's becomes pretty clear that runes/runepages prices are messed up.

True. They have had problems with server stability with a growing playerbase for quite some time. You would think they could plan ahead and fix the problems before they even happen. Maybe I should cut Riot some slack, but I am just tired of having nights of arranged 5s play ruined because their servers are messing up.

How do you guys balance your rune pages vs champ pool?

I've got 3 rune pages (f2p lol), one for AD, AP and support - they are as generic as I can make them. On the flip side, I've only got 20 champs, so my ability to counter pick is very limited.

I'm sure it would be good to have jungle and top pages, or diverse AD/AP pages, but then again being countered in champ select due to such a shallow pool is frustrating too. What would you guys do here?

I have 3 pages: AD/AP/Jungle. That one rune page was painful enough. I have a list of like 4-5 champions I'd like to buy in the near future (because I enjoy playing them!) and it's not like they're all 6300's either... the time commitment is the price you pay to play for free unfortunately :\

Expand your champion pool based on who you enjoy first and foremost. Don't worry too much about being countered at champion select, even "hard counters" are highly dependent on in-game circumstances and individual skill. If AD/AP/Support are your favorite roles you really shouldn't worry all that much about being countered anyway.

If you're looking to move into the top and jungle positions you'll want to grab a couple more rune pages when convenient. Movement Speed combined with Attack Speed or Attack Damage is common on many junglers or top lanes. I personally enjoy having rune pages with full Armor or MR runes for lanes which would normally be considered counters (these pages are extremely rare below Platinum and in normals, which really, really throws people off when their expected damage output is mysteriously low).

You could probably do fine with one AP page with magicpen reds/armor yellow/mr blues/AP quints, a support page with lots of armor, some mr and maybe GP10 quints, and a AD reds/armor yellows/mr blues/AD quints page that you use for AD casters, junglers and ADCs.

You could play most champions pretty well with those three, but ofcourse there's a lot of min/maxing you losing out on. You're missing pages with MS quints for different roles, specialized jungle pages for both bruiser and AP junglers, ARP pages, and then you have the issue with akali/ryze/ap trynda/etc that have really specific runepages that no other champion would ever want.

In your situation, I would get up to 5~ rune pages, then just get champions for the roles you like. When/if you realize you're lacking a crucial runepage, start saving up for another one.

Edit: As Seuss said, getting pages for specific counter is also good, like heavy armor pages vs ad assassins mid or heavy MR pages vs LeBonk
