Dunno bout Fnatic being a sure pick there, and I'd rank IM above Blaze there. GG is the only sure pick in group A for me, they've never performed bad at a IEM before. Even when they were "slumping" like they might be now in LCS EU, they've always performed top tier at IEM. Plus they did win both of their matches in LCS this week (worse opponents, but hey).
M5/GG has 5 IEM event wins. They are the ones to beat on this stage, not the Koreans.

I think he *is* OP. His Q CCs way too long, E is spammable, and that R.... gosh.
The fact alone that Thresh is pretty strong despite noone abusing the lantern means that he is OP if people really use it. If you have a jungler with some mobility and a CC (So, pretty much any jungler), the enemy can never push you, because laneganks with lantern are absurdly strong. Throw lantern backwards, run farward, flash while the jungler is flying towards you, he hits any cc you hit your hook. There is no way to escape that. However, it relies on the jungler actually coming botlane through lane. And they don't. In most games, your lantern is basically a glorified locket active. Which is still strong, but not as OP as it could be if ANYONE would actually click on it. And despite this amount of wasted potential, thresh is still strong.
I am basically just waiting for him to be released in the professional tournaments and people seeing just how much he can be abused to realize what you can do with that lantern, at which point he will very quickly achieve permaban status.
They could remove the lantern click effect and he'd still be OP. They shouldn't, but his kit is so strong he'd still be ridiculous.
He's going to be the Lee Sin of supports. They'll be nerfing him well into Season 4.

All they have to do is release 10 more champs like them and they won't have to be nerfed anymore ;_;

xPeke was asked about Thresh during his guest analyzing for week 2 EU LCS, and he said he expects Thresh to be ban/first pick status for this upcoming week. He knows some teams have been specifically practicing with him(especially ones that had no week 2 matches) and that in general he is seen as incredibly strong among the pros.

I think he just need less armor gained from his passive and longer CD on E - and he will be fine. Currently he is way too tanky without building a single armor item.
Wait, so we've come to the point where we're discussing how to nerf a champ not even when they are FotM, but the week before they're expected to become FotM?

They went, 1-2 last IEM in group stages getting in by mostly knowing it was time breaker. It was a very weak performance in LCS too, Giants game was terrible skill wise.
Fnatics top and mid lane are so freaking good right now and Koreans will be jetlagged.
Also is it worth it to get spirit stone on Zed jungle? I used to just get Madreds but it felt decent and upgrades are good.

Not like that stopped them before.
Fnatic didn't look all that good at either IEM prior to this. Not being able to take the win against SKT at Cologne makes their chances look incredibly suspect, because recent results place T1 as basically a 3rd tier team among Asian teams.

No, I'm not convinced that EU caught up in 2 months. GG pulled out a win at Katowice because they demonstrated a superior understanding of how to play this version that nobody else had caught on to yet (and this has always been GG's strong point), but I don't think they have as much of an advantage in this regard as of right now.

I don't get it. Thresh can jungle effectively, in the new jungle. I honestly think Riot forgot he was ranged.

his soul accumulation is so fucking slow in the jungle though.
