I play support, and am wondering how to consistently help the team win. When there was no league system, I was oscilating between silver and gold, but I feel like the people lack some common sense and even if winning throw the game in the end because they get overconfident and fight 4v5, etc.. Anyway. This is not the point. The question is, what is a good support to play at this relatively low elo, that will allow me to consistently carry my team even if they suck (I kinda expect the answer is go play jungler/mid).
Normally, I play whatever seems the most reasonable choice depending on enemy pick, or I pick taric/leona on blue side for double golems + lvl 2 kill, then try to snowball from there. But it seems to me that even if we manage to win the bot lane, it's not necessarily leading to win of the whole game. And even if we win bot lane more than lose, I lose games more than win.. So I was wondering, if going some non-optimal support, which is however good at being agressive and really annoying and even has potential of carrying, because people at this league just suck playing against them, would be a good idea. Supports such as lux or nidalee (people just love 'em javelins). Or generally, maybe playing those 'poke' supports more would work, such as Sona/Zyra/Lulu. As often even if I initiate the fight well with melee support, our team is too scared or too far away they just don't do anything or can't use the situation. With poke champ I could just poke until enemy is low enough. Hm..
Ideas? lulu's a super strong support imo. She is very good at minimizing mistakes of teammates and capitalizing on mis-positioning of enemies. Tbh, I'd rate lulu as among the best in terms of game impact. edit: if you want to direct your team, then leona is probably a stronger option, because her initiation makes it painfully obvious to the rest of your team when and where to teamfight. As long as you have a good sense of telling what fights you can win, and which you can't, then leona is very good at carrying. I'd also say thresh is a very potent support as well.
Lulu is a great get out of jail free/ teamfight champ, but she kind of lacks damage in the end.
Leona depends on the rest of your team also knowing if its a good fight. My experience in soloq is unless its painfully obvious you're ahead or even, oftentimes your team will not follow up and you'll just die 1v5 and get flamed.
I love Thresh, but no one knows how to use his lantern. No one.

best way to win low level games if you snowball bot is to kill the tower asap after ad finishes BT, then rotate mid and take mid tower, then do drag if it's still up
basically, if your team sucks but you've successfully gotten your ad fed as support, force your team to end lane phase asap.

i also don't play lulu or zyra or lux or jarvan or any of those supports, I play sona/taric/leona and thats it and still win most of my games i think I picked taric in the low elo games and didnt really even win lane (AMG BAD AD REPORT REPORT)

Do you guys think it's better to main 1/2 roles to rank up in solo queue or is better to just fill?
|
main as much as possible but dont be a dick
id main champs more than roles, you can nearly always get the same champ in a role but you cant always get the same role, you want to keep your champs to a minimum so you cna focus on getting better without having to learn a new champ every time

Maining will get you up faster IF you can consistently get your best role. But at minimum you need to go like 50/50 in at least 1-2 other roles.

If you want to main support/jungle then you can probably do that.
If you want to main mid/top you better be able to play the other roles competently as backup.

It's getting very tiring to patch the game everytime I launch it... QQ

If only lulu had a cool skin. Then I could play her. Something that changed that annoying voice.
