Last hitting and mechanics are very similar between the two games correct? And can I play against bots in DotA?
If you have a better idea of how to play an offline MOBA game close to LoL, I'd love to hear it.
You can play it if you think it's fun (but i guess mobas offline are extremly unfun) i don't think you will gain any skill by doing so. The mechanics/feelings are too different. If you already have a decent grasp about last hitting in lol you will probably get worse by playing dota alot. I don't think there is a way to get better in LoL offline atm. (Unless you somehow make LoL work offline.)

Well it is better than nothing. I will also be playing SC:BW against computers
LAN sure would be nice. I won't be in a place with reliable internet until December 2014. JonGalt Fighting for Season 5!!

I have been contemplating the use of illicit drugs and copious amounts of alcohol. For now though, I am glued to my blackberry as I F5 threads on TL and try to integrate into the TL LoL community.

I remember the DotA AI being pretty good actually. Obviously not human level but way better than the LoL bots. It's been years since I played it though. I'd highly recommend dling it if you're going to have a long time without the net.

May I ask the reason for this, if it isn't indiscreet?
Also randomly looked up who had played since the system is in place, for my division (EUW Silver's Irelia's Jackals that is), and I considered that somebody with 0 points hasn't played since (I know, it's going to generate a lot of false positives for negative people), here's what it gives: + Show Spoiler +Active / Inactive I: 22 / 33 II: 26 / 49 III: 17 / 29 IV: 23 / 45 V: 22 / 44 Sub-total : 110 / 200 Not that much.

@Alaric: I assume you were talking to me. I am a Peace Corps Volunteer in the small African country of Lesotho. I am a Maths (They call it Maths here and not Math. Which makes sense if you think about it because it is Mathematics, not Mathematic) and Computer Studies teacher at a high school.
So the next time I go to the internet cafe I will spend hours (and possibly even multiple trips) to download SC:BW, WC3, and DotA.
OR, you could send me a flash drive with all that on it

MadNote who posts here is about to go to Lesotho for two years. in all seriousness you could ask him to bring you a thumb drive with that stuff.
EDIT: oh, wait, he's already there.

This is the most accurate description of a hipster that I've read.

I think every game I play is basically, whichever side that plays more aggressively in lane and exerts pressure wins the lane early, If it's my side then I countergank the aggro lane once and game over. If it's my lane that's losing, I either get counterganked or just don't go and it loses further. It really seems like every game is decided within the first 4min of laning, and the aggressor always wins. This applies too all lanes and especially bot. When people don't know how to play back vs. aggression they put pressure on the jungler and on the team as a whole. Not sure why anyones ever thought this game encourages passivity, or maybe the meta really has shifted.

Yah, I know him. He's a great guy
In all actuality, my girlfriend is coming to visit in March so maybe I will have her bring it. Don't know why I didn't think of that. That would be super easy. Thanks for the idea!

Ehhh you can play passive for certain timings though. Even if you concede farm and levels to someone, you can sometimes be in a situation where you just need level (4, 6, 7, whatever) so you play pussy until that. I laugh whenever I see Alistars being aggro at level 1, only to be too low to flash pulv + headbutt back once they hit 2. You can't be all out aggro all the time.

Is the division 1 points bug still on? Like i was on a 2 win streak which got me from 30ish points to 71. I got 3 more wins in a row, netting me 14, 8 and 4 points respectively, placing me at 96. there's only so many times in a row u can dodge the trolls on ur team.

As you get close to your league promotion series (silver to gold or whatever), you earn less and less points just to make sure you belong in the higher league.

Tried jungle Ali after a long break. Machete 5 pots was a super easy clear... Went ancient golem and mobility boots and it felt awesome. Why is he not in the jungle again?

It was bugged, but the system is still supposed to work like that. They don't want players going on a 10 game winstreak, end up being promoted to gold and then just hovering in 0-30 LP Gold V because they really belong in silver.
