I'm trying to create a roster of 10 champs (2 for each role) for solo queue. Coolness or fotm are not important, what I am looking for is champions that are ALWAYS strong due to their mechanics specifically in the solo queue setting. Not competetive play, not aram. Just soloqueue.
Other criteria include a low popularity and a low ban rate.
I imagine having one "main" for the role, while the other one should be as versatile as the main (against as many opponents as possible) while it can go even or counter the main.
Stuff I have come up with so far Needs - to be able to exploit communication barrier / unorganized play - to be mechanically simple enough to focus on learning the game/lane - to be as versatile as possible / as strong against as many champions as possible - to be strong with little farm - to have a linear power curve (slightly favored towards early/laning and midgame) - to scale well with items - in addition to above: needs to shine during earlygame and midgame to press advantage without falling off late - to be able to hardcarry the game (where applicable) - to WIN :D
So far I have:
Support Taric Easy choice, best/most popular/most successful soloqueue support. Especially good against my secret fear - Blitzcrank. Aurabot.
Jungle Amumu Can't deny the highest winrate in the game. Not sure if he might get nerfed though. Ult is the best. Skillshot is a disadvantage.
Mid TF Ult, Stun, Poke. Nuff said. Also: Underworld Skin.
AD Cait Super strong lane control with traps. Can push with Q. Highest range (except Trist@18 and Kog) in the game. No steroid is a disadvantage though.
AD Ashe Super safe thx to Hawkshot. Two early points in Hawkshot = TF passive. Kite all day. High range. Gamechanging ult. Again, no steroid.
Considered:
Jungle: Jax/Shyvana/Maokai/etc. Kinda need some damage from the jungle in case of tanky top lane. Mid: Yorick/Panth/Swain/Morde/Eve/etc I have no idea. I heard mid Yorick is op though. Top: I have literally no idea. Seems to have shifted so much in the past few months. Default stuff: Irelia/Shen/Darius/Singed/Vlad/Rumble etc Support: Any would do I guess. I have absolutely NO idea about supports.
So guys, I kinda need your input. What do YOU think fits well? Am I wrong with some choices? What would you suggest for the missing champions? Don't stick with my considerations, I'm a noob after all and have relatively NO idea about this game and winning in solo queue haha :D
I'd suggest Kennen for top lane. I picked him up for many of the reasons you cite as criteria: strong early game, able to bully most top laners but is consistently useful in mid and late game. Even without farm your CC gives you utility even if you aren't fed. Even more importantly, he has a great escape, something almost essential for top laners that pushes him above somewhat similar champs (e.g. rumble). Also super few weak matchups. You beat most top laners and go even with the rest. I admit I'm starting to sound a bit too fanboyish so I'll end it here :D.
On a more general note: an important concern when doing this (and it's a great thing to do!) is to not only pick 2 generally solid champs but also 2 whose counters do not overlap. There should be no champ you see on the opposing team who counters both of yours. This can happen even when picking 2 solid champs. Ex. if you choose Kennen and Jayce, Irelia will be a bitch no matter who you are playing. (Teemo will always be a bitch that's unavoidable! ). So once you find one guy, a good way to find a second is to look at the counters of the first - and see who counters them.

last hitting isn't very much reflexes. It has much more to do with planning and preparation. It's only in engagements where reflexes even play a factor.
Also, I think shaco is one of the most poorly designed champions in the game, but that's something that belongs elsewhere.

Last hitting is still muscle memory. And Osu isn't only about reflexes, it's a lot about mouse control and timing. Sure you need to prepare and plan some creeps but the most important thing is timing.
Man, I hate Wings so much. Words cannot describe.

Just realized I carried a game with Nocturne with my Diana jungle setup. AP jungle runes, 0/9/21 masteries, opps.

I've also been looking to create a "roster" for soloqueue because I'm going to start playing ranked soon. This is what I'm going for so far, any advice/opinions are welcome:
ADC (what I main): cait, vayne and ezreal Mid: Kha'zix, Ahri, Orianna Top: Malphite, Jax, Irelia (maybe Yorick?) Jungle: Malphite, Amumu, Lee sin (problem: Most of those are always banned at my ELO, all 3 of them not uncommon) Support: Nunu, Sona, Taric

If there is a game which circle comes out randomly instead of fixed, I think it would help more.

Watching scarra playing AP Alistar..... it seems so OP..... even though it's not......

Play what you want to play. I don't understand why you would need specific champions just for ranked. If I feel like playing Heimerdinger, I play Heimer in ranked. Idgaf if my fucking team won't let me, I'll instalock him if I feel like I want to play him. Play what you want to practice, play what you're comfortable with, play what's good as a counter are all good ways to approach ranked. Don't strap yourself in to just a certain pool of champs just because it's ranked.

Last hitting is the best practice for last hitting. Shocking I know.

Counterpicking is cool, but if you've barely played the hero and the one you're countering has played that hero in like 200 ranked games, they are going to obliterate you, no matter how strong of a counter it is.

Yeah, I don't think these games help that much with last-hitting. Probably more helpful in improving ranged kiting.

But they are? No American team can (or will be able to) compete with Asian teams, but CLG is without a doubt the strongest NA team. TSM dominated NA once because they copied M5 and then have been completely irrelevant.

I think people should play for the team in ranked games and leave the idgaf attitude for custom games. When you play soccer for your school team, and the coach puts you in defence and you wanna play offence, you don't go 'fuck that, i'm gonna play striker because that's what i wanna play', you do as your told for obvious reasons, so the same should apply for ranked games, where people play to win.

It either has stuff that's pretty easy and simple or something totally stupid that's just not possible for me. Haven't found many songs that actually helped my accuracy. Have found many new songs I like though, that's good.
Some APM increase programs designed for SCBW have been more effective for me, I guess. ClickMeR was the best one.
Osu's more fun though of course. I also really liked stepmania on keyboard.
