The rest of them generally have to build at least 2x survivability items to not blow up instantly(probably warmogs+randuins/GA) Arguably the only one that fits that criteria that has been run competitively is nocturne, and apart from the midlane noct in OGN, has almost always been built wriggles-> tank. But the thing is there are legitimate Carry items that give you defences. No reason not to build both Mercurial Scepter and Frozen Fists on msot of these champions. Add in Hydra Lifesteal that pretty scary. I honestly dont think Tryn Viable melee carry out of ones available,m he too easily kited. Think Fiora much much better. Would rather have the defensive steroids of a Jax or Shyvana as well.
I played a lane as AP Lux supporting a Talon, and it went surprisingly well. Lux's kit (shield, snare, xtra deeps) seemed to work well with melee adc, as well as kinda feeling like Disc/Rogue from WoW arena lol.

It's been awhile, I guess we're going to have the tank vs bruiser vs carry discussion again. Can we do scaling vs flat runes next?
The thing with a melee carry team is, you need to do MORE damage than a ranged carry with IE, PD, LW, Zerkers, BT [Defensive item] on your 6 item build. You need to do more because you are innately bringing less simply by being melee. You're making the lanes harder, you have do do more work in team fights, you're changing your teams build orders, etc.
And I don't think there's a champion/item combination that can. You have to spend too many slots on defensive items. Even if they provide offense as well, do they really compare to the standard ADC build?
Even with Fist/Mercurial how is that different than say, and Ez that got Fist and Mercurial? You have 50% move speed after a CC vs his range?

The melee "carry" doesn't need to do more damage they just need to kill squishier targets while staying alive. Ranged AD focuses tanks first so they need the most damage melees can afford to build tanky
