I think riot really needs to look at mr items and try to make them easier to itemize. I'm not sure what that means but I can't really look at too many of them as a tank in the modern meta and see value. Expecialy for supports I only see Health really as the preferred tanking ap stat. anyone know a good tanking mr item? There is no modern meta as of now. I ment my current meta of diveing into the enemy and dieing instantly. with hp being more cost efficent then getting mr or armor its better off for you to just do and die for damacia. But regardless (see your edit now) Whats a good tanking mr item? Should I be picking up the hexdrinker or a wits end? Spirit Visage is pretty decent actually and I really like the new Banshees.

Bulwark is probably the best MR item in the game right now imo. If there's not one on your team and you want MR, buy it. SV overtakes it when you have a healing ability for the passive, or if you don't necessarily want another Bulwark because someone has one.

Yeah nobody should be complaining about needing MR items now, Runic Bulwark and Mercurial Scimitar are amazing.

Also, apparently spirit visage is bugged atm and still gives the old 15% heal amplification.

You forgot the value of SV if you enjoy CDR but yeah pretty much right on. If they can just get the feeling that resists are a tad more worthwhile at the moment I think armor and mr and really in a neat place for itemization options.
Underworld Twisted Fate #1 imo, Jack of Hearts/Musketeer are tied for second place.

I want an Old TF skin, that reverts his model and animations to the old ones.

Best is always relative.
In other news, What is the general consensus on what to start as support? I've been getting Faerie charm + Bead + 2 wards and backing early for fast philo and pots.

Finally, getting my S3 patch tomorrow, cant wait woot woot!!! League of Cleaver here I come .

Depending on the tank, Twin Shadows is fine, Spirit Visage and Bulwark/Aegis are still options if you want health, if they have a very heavy CC team I could see an arguement for Mercurial Scimitar. And they are apparently buffing Banshee's Veil? It seems like there are a few choices.

You don't actually WANT to go b so early.
Been trying flask with wards and some pots too, it's decent on the more tanky supports I feel like. Taric/Leona I liked it on. Downside is, because of no gp10, I always feel the need to go sightstone, and you don't always get to the >800 gold to buy sightstone + goodies.

The problem is negatron cloak still doesn't build into anything good in terms of actual magic res. When you're facing a fed AP, you want to pick up a negatron then turn it into something stronger later, but the fact is you can't. For some retarded reason they removed FoN and never replaced it with anything.

Spirit Visage, Banshee's Veil, and Mecurial Scimitar build out of Negatron Cloak...

And you gain no additional magic res out of any of those items, except for 5 more on SV. So I'm spending more money to be exactly 0% better off vs AP. What is the point? :/

They give other stats, like health... Survivability is based on a combination of health and resistances. Both in tandem yield the best results. Also Mecurial Scimitar grants you the ability to break ccs, which as a tank is pretty important to initiate a fight.

You're definitely 0% better off versus AP when you have more health, a shield which blocks one ability, and/or a CC cleanse to break out of their death combo. None of those things help you against an AP in any way. Nope.
