You can easily rack up 200g from Avarice's passives in the five minutes after purchasing it, even including time spent ganking as a jungler. Holding onto it for 10-15 minutes or more is entirely feasible, so you're looking at a 500-1000g difference.
Whether or not it's better than Atma's depends on what sort of build you're going for, but currently Phantom Dancer and Atma's are rarely seen together. Despite the impending upheaval in Season 3, I'd be surprised to see that change.

Lets be honest. they took the philo stone behind a shed and shot it dead. Its literally the most junk item in the overhaul now. elisas seems cool but its a horrible gold sink now and supports are going to want an ohmwrecker and aura items even more.
The arvarice is actualy an item now for the adcs which means that the lucky pick is the only gp10 that you'd even want to get.

I've tried a 1v2 lane as Kayle before against Nunu, Cait. It's still ridiculously hard to defend the tower. I think Kayle has one of the fastest early and safe clears but even she takes residual harass from iceballs and Caitlyn QE's. The tower goes down pretty fast. Not as fast as in pro games, but still pretty fast.
If they pick Caitlyn, then the tower is going to go down no matter what champion you pick barring bad play like in the dreamhack (MYM semis?) game where Irelia picked up kills in 1v2s.

As far as I know, yes. If you have Bulwark you will get +30 MR from the item and +30 MR from the aura for 60 MR total, but if someone else on your team also has Bulwark then you won't get 30 MR from the aura a second time.

Philo is seriously nerfed, but Shurelya's is still really good. It will depend on what your team needs. I don't think supports will ever build Ohmwrecker, but they do have new options in Shard of True Ice, Mikael's Crucible, Ruby Sightstone, and a slightly buffed Locket of the Iron Solari.

Yeah, it's the Solomid tourney. Right now it's Curse versus FeaR with Double Assassin (+Lee) versus Double AD.
Everytime they say "Rhux" I keep thinking the caster is misidentifying Sona as Lux.

Fear's team seems really weird to me.They have 2 ad-s and then a random olaf and elise.
And unsurprisingly hugging each other doesn't help vs assassins in league.

lack of utility, can get really fucked up in 1v2 lanes, needs farm (not really a bad thing, but it can hurt in low econ games), has weak late game.
But he's super fun to play, that's for sure!

He still gets some play time. Enemyz from Eclypsia plays him to the point where their opponents even target ban Renekton against EC.

So now as traditional support (not agressive Zyra style) is what itemization? HoG is out, philo is kind of meh, kage actually looks good (and builds into shard), but doesnt give sustain, so what gp5 you will build?
