In any case it's really easy for people to blow something like little numbers out of proportion. I'm not upset by numbers, I'm merely sadly shaking my head since I know that people (including myself, hence the blurb) often fail to see the forest of being nice to people for the tree of self-righteous achievement manifested in a number.
Sure, people do get overly attached to them, but that's the case for almost anything in the game that is expressed numerically and aggregated.
You probably have experienced how excited people get over someone (their team or not) scoring an unexpected pentakill. There's nothing intrinsically special about it (compared to splitting the kills), it's just something that is rare and gets a special announcement -- and yet people will get really excited when it does happen, and very jumpy if e.g. the support gets the last hit off.
People also love their pointless "special" skins (much cooler than a skin that can be bought!), ELO badges (hey, I met a completely arbitrary goal!), and at my ELO they constantly gloat over superior kill/death ratios while ignoring much more important questions (contribution to winning).
I guess I just didn't expect anyone to be surprised that introducing honor points would have this kind of effect. It is, as others pointed out, exactly the same idea as arbitrary "achievements" that almost every game seems to have now, the main difference being (IMO) that the honor system was explicitly engineered to change player in a mutually beneficial way -- and using rewards instead of just punishment (the ban system) is actually a good way to do so.
The whole "we won! gibe me honor!" after every game does get a little tiresome, but if people act friendlier in-game, it's worth it -- regardless of whether they're doing it because of the honor system or not.

10 movespeed isn't that huge. Neither is the 6 or so more starting armor.
Leona's E is shorter ranged.
Her shield is awesome because at max rank it gives something like 70 mr/armor his is just as awesome as his scales off of his health and a potential to get stronger.
I am not saying Leona is bad I am just saying Naut is just as awesome as she is. *shrug* If you don't feel the same way, hey that's your opinion but his support is awesome.

Hmm if that rumor is true, it'd be incredibly disappointing and honestly, very shady behavior by Riot.
I'm not going to take it 100% at face value though because for all we know, it could just be false rumors spreading.

10 MS puts leona solidly faster than the AD carries she's going up against (who mostly have 300-305 MS) and her E going through creeps makes it INFINITELY easier to land when you're trying to engage in lane.
Furthermore, support items generally involve building mostly max HP and relatively little armor/MR (Everything kindlegem is HP, HOG is HP, Aegis is even amounts of everything) making Leona's free defenses far more valuable to a support than Nautilus' long-CD shield.
6 level 1 armor is a lot bigger than you're making it out to be, too... that's like another whole autoattack to kill you in level 1 or 2 engagements, everything else being equal. (500 HP, +6% EHP vs physical -> 30 more HP. Autos level 1 do 30-50 damage, depending on whether its AD carry or toplaner or AP/support.)

You're not gonna be faster than the AD, ever.
By the time you have boots1, he should have boots2. By the time you got boots2.... Just kidding, you'll never have boots2 on a support. But he'd have PD / TF by that time anyways.

If you want to argue the viability of naut support argue against blitz.They both suffer from inability to initiate through minions but leona can. IMO that difference on when she make plays compared to naut/blitz makes them impossible to compare.

I think it might have something to do with me getting scared of a fucking bear running at me, but I always lose lane to support voli
