Why is it that Katarina can cast her W when no targets are present, but Soraka cannot cast her Q this way?
|
Because Kat doesn't have mana or cooldowns, so it doesn't matter.
|
Animation from soraka q requires an enemy. Kat w does not. Just guessing

Katarinay W animation is just her spinning with blades and if there is a target near, the blades will hit the enemy. So regardless if there are targetable units or not the animation comes from katarina herself.

O god. lol. Bought and tried Leona first time in a normal game. Being able to affect a teamfight with her CC. Never felt so useful as a support.

try blitz and Sona, too. They can affect the game, too.

Every support can affect the game imho... Why play them, if they could not... Some do it flashier then others though.

Some are just plain better than others though. tbh I really like the tools Lulu brings to the table. Shes a lot of fun

Get fed on Wukong, buy phage and aegis. Rock the midgame. Monkey too good at smashing people before they stack HP and so tanky with aegis+passive. (Also 15 ArPen from marks, 6 flat + 10% ArPen from masteries, 40% from Last Whisper, then the 30% Armor reduc from Q so strong, "Hey you, random 200 armor dude! Well for me you only got 57, get smashed!")

So for people who have been jungling Kha' zix, what have you been doing?
i've played like 10 games now, currently I'm doing like boots start into 2 dblades, brutalizer, phage, BT, LW, mallet, although i've tried a bunch of builds and wriggles is ok too.
I think starting with W for the first point is better than Q with it healing you and hitting the whole camps i think it does more damage.
I've been evolving QER, but maybe actually EQR would be better, the jump is so fucking bad before evolve, and then after it is just insane. Being able to close on people so much better in ganks might totally make up for the damage lost from a later Q, plus applying the slow faster helps lanes cath up on ganks. Plus the reset is amazing for everything.
I think you want some mix of W and E points, not sure what exactly.
Love the champ, lategame mobility is just ludicrous. Can escape from anything.

Im kinda sad that jangler pretty much never really go for offensive items anymore in the current meta. There is basically 2 slightly different builds.Shv and Noc goes wriggles into ageis and boots 2. Pretty much everyone else goes double gp5 into ageis and boots 2. The only variation during this stage is when to get boots of mobility and oracles. The choice after this is usually between FH, Randuins, Shurelias or a negatron cloak. Most games would be decided at this point and you won't ever see 1 offensive item.
Remember there was a time when I think every jangler build wits end? I kinda miss that.

Wits end junglers just not as popular right now.
Its inneficient to buy offensives on jungles, defence more cost efficient.

So you are saying these two spells behave differently entirely due to their visual effects?

I feel like level 1 Q is just a waste. The rank 1 damage is barely more than an auto attack by the time I get to level 5 or 6, so I don't feel like it's a great use of 25 mana.
Is it worth evolving Q? I've been going EWR (sometimes switching the order with W and R). I haven't even tried evolving Q because it seems like the weakest teamfight evolution.

obv it has nothing to do with animations, they just decided to make it like that.

It does fine damage, the point is that you can use it between autos and it has a 3.5 second CD, which massively increases your DPS.
The 12% is pretty big, i mean its adding like 150+ damage per cast later and its great for finishing people and chunking tanks (if you are missing 2k health it basically doubles the base damage of the spell).

Besides it would be a waste of mana and because starcall is on such a low cd and there is no targeting mechanic it behaves like a smart cast so there is no range indicator for it. So instead of making people spam Q,waste mana and do nothing if they are slightly out of range, they decided to make it work it so it can be cast only when she is in range of someone obviously.

Yeah, but can you usually find people isolated in a team fight so you can proc the evolved Q? I guess I just need to play more games and try the evolved Q for myself >.<
|
The isolation range is ridiculously short, unless you've got an Amumu, Diana or Orianna in your team that hits all 5 of them you'll always find somebody "isolated" from the others after the initiation, and even more so during the clean-up phase. Worst case, you dive the support (when he stays with the carry, alones in the back), 3-shot him, then turn on the carry and shred him throughly (I'm a bit exaggerating but I'm sure a fed enough Kha'Zix could do it).
