meh. I'm sure the creator will end up getting it for free once he pesters Riot enough. least they can do for implementing someone else's IP gratuitously. It's hilarious how their justification for not being able to participate in the champ design forum is that it would create legal problems while they repeatedly outright copy skin concepts from the community (with community consent of course, but it's clearly someone outside of riot who is the main creative force). I wonder if their lawyers have ever told them that you can't copyright or trademark game mechanics, but you CAN claim infringement on aesthetics... IE community champion concepts (mechanically at least) are fair game, but skins could be tricky...

It's only when I stun someone as taric/leona/alistar and go in for the burst combo that things can truly go wrong and I need some kind of reaction from my AD. Someone like lulu can also bring a lot to teamfights where you can negate a lot of your bad AD's laning phase. Good luck trying to help in a teamfight with taric. Because that does not carry a game. If your ad carry can farm, and not shut down the enemy ad carry, you are going even in lane. To carry the game, you need more then that. As a supporty support, you make sure your AD carry does not die, and is in a position to zone the enemy. If he does not do that, your lane is even at best. As an aggressive support, you try to produce kills for your ad carry, or zone theirs yourself. Of course a lot can go wrong doing that, but if you are far better then the guys you play, nothing SHOULD go wrong due to your superior skill. To carry as a support, you need to make your Ad carry stronger then theirs.

If you use their models and character design to make your own skin design, you forfeit your right to ownership over anything you make as a result. Champion designs however are completely fresh ideas that are not derivative and therefore present a different legal issue.

Phreak Web Content Specialist 1 of 1 Riot Posts Today, 05:43 AM AFAIK Arcade Sona will be equivalent to Metal Rammus: Given out at a convention, but available to everyone. I was worried too that I'd have to find and bribe a distant internet-friend to pick me up one from PAX.

I can only assume that when you post something on the forum, it is intended to be used for Riot to actually create the content. I mean, if you write a skin idea with "I wish Riot would make this..." then accuse Riot of "stealing" your ideas, I don't think you can argue this in court.

IE community champion concepts (mechanically at least) are fair game, but skins could be tricky... Well, Riot's EULA and ToS covers this quite well. If you make/do anything with Riot's stuff like design a skin or make a video, Riot can legally claim it as theirs. Riot's nice about it and doesn't go around clamping down on vids and stuff, but when someone designs a skin for a Riot champion it's not technically their IP; it's Riot's. It's just how US copyright laws work. Participating in champ design forums is much trickier. Champ design forums create completely new characters that may or may not be copyrighted already. Furthermore, if Riot does blatantly take a champ from the champ design forums, that opens them up to potential "omg I made this first Riot where my royalties" situations, which I'm sure they want to avoid. At the very least, there would be some legal mumbo jumbo they'll have to wade through, which may be more trouble than it's worth. Whereas for skins, it's very clear that the creator of the skin is making derivative work off of existing LoL champs. As per copyright laws and EULA/ToS, derivative works is most definitely Riot property. Not only that, but to my knowledge, Riot generally has a backlog of 2~3 champions that they're constantly working on prior to their release. I'm sure Riot has gotten inspiration from the champ design forums, but they can't/won't be vocal about it for good legal reasons. That said, Riot is very good about giving back to the community. at least so far and compared to other big gaming companies in the past. Like Chiharu said, creators of skins always get the skin for free, it just takes a while sometimes.

The Graves one is actually pretty big, isn't it? I mean, I know he's considered probably one of the top 3 AD at least through all stages of the game, but 10% AS rather heavy handed, imo. I honestly don't think the Ali changes will make him bad or anything, but we'll see him a lot less because people see "nerf" and think "garbage champ". Then someone will play him again in a tournament and dominate, and he'll become insta-ban status again. Shen nerf seems odd. I don't know anyone who was ever complaining about Shadow Dash being too short of a CD, but I guess it's somewhat deserved.

And Graves' strength mostly stems from his burst, mobility and that damn vision denial anyways. I wouldn't even consider it a nerf because it's so small.

Man it's fun to look at upcoming changes but those unofficial notes from RoG are always riddled with errors/omissions

I am pretty sure that most nerfs and buffs barely influence gameplay at all, but they make people think differently about a champion that just got nerfed, thinking he is suddenly way worse.

Then all is well and people will be happy (with a skin) and Riot too (with money). ![]() About Shen I know I manage my energy rather badly, but when I have to escape I usually start with a taunt to reduce their damage/stop them from rooting me while another ally with cc arrives, and if they try to stick to me it's usually the second taunt that let me do the trick. 6 more seconds (well, more like 3-4, I suck with energy :') ) is pretty long.
